Is there anything good along 75 in GA.? I remember seeing a road sign for craft beer in mason but wasn't near the bypass..

    Ha. Macon.

75 goes through the middle of Atlanta, and Green's is a short trip off of it. Make that your first priority. In Macon, both Growler Spot and Just Tap'd will have a good selection of southern offerings, but they're off 75, not 475.. Just Tap'd has the larger bottle selection. If you're taking 475 there's a Macon Beverage Depot that has a lot of craft but most of it is past its shelf life so be aware. There's also a Just Tap'd in Warner Robins though it's a couple miles off the highway. If you're taking 475, Just Tap'd in Warner Robins is your better option.

Assuming you're driving to Florida, I'd recommend taking 75 through Macon, stopping at Just Tap'd downtown for your bottle shop and then getting lunch/dinner at The Rookery. Great burgers and a good craft selection to match. It's pretty much a fast food wasteland for the next 300+ miles.

Truer words probably never spoken. It's brutal. Next worthwhile stop after Macon is Gainesville (where Swamp Head isn't terribly far off I-75).

*Macon* sorry  thanks for response. I think Macon would be a perfect spot to stop for some food too.. and yes, driving to FL.. with 2 dogs and a 4 year old. So I can't venture to far..

Where would be my best chance at getting Tropicalia?

Rookery has a dog friendly patio (we also have 2 dogs), and Just Tap'd will actually let you bring your dogs inside. Just Tap'd did recently add a kitchen to the basement, so it's only a matter of time until the health department starts treating upstairs and downstairs as the same business, but for now dogs are still ok indoors. Just Tap'd does have 3 draft lines of soda in case you want to drink a beer or eat there.

    Athens.

But seriously, Athens. Everywhere else is going to be so hit or miss that you would end up planning your entire trip around being somewhere within a couple hours of a delivery that is announced on Twitter. Green's responds pretty well on Twitter if you want to tweet at them the day you're driving through. Just Tap'd and Growler Spot both get it, but it's pretty infrequent.

Are there any good seasonals that come out towards the end of December?

Are you just in the middle Georgia I-75 area or will you be in Atlanta also? Atlanta opens up a HUGE world of opportunity, enough that you can skip the rest of the state.

And I can make this claim as a Georgia native born in Macon

It probably depends on what your goal is. If you're looking to grab a couple local beers you haven't had before, stretch your legs, get the dogs out of the car and maybe get lunch, Macon is much more convenient.

If you want the (by far) best selection, maybe a whale or two, and don't mind the extra time driving, absolutely stop in Atlanta. Green's isn't too far from the highway. Hop City in Krog St Market is also pretty close, but you're going to get cozy with the GPS to get there.

Agree with the above from @weaverr

A few miles off the interstate but a bit less stressful in terms of traffic: give Ale Yeah! in Kennesaw a visit. Art and Jingur will take good care of you. Downtown Kennesaw is also just a cool place.

Hop City West might be a good bet. I guess from the interstate either Krog St or West (the two locations for Hop City) are about the same trek.

There's also a Total Wine in Kennesaw right of 75 before getting into Atlanta.

Coming down 75 hit up the total wine in kennesaw. It's off the main exit there and two lights. Can see the interstate from the parking lot. Food and all that around it. But you'll find some good locals. Some regional distro stuff like wicked weed and cigar city and some decent stuff.

Traffic is a nightmare so depends on time you travel- might be worth stopping to let traffic die down.

Greens on ponce is in midtown Atlanta. Probably 10 min off interstate. Not a bad drive. Not many turns and easy to get back to interstate as well. Better and fresher selection and better chance to find some limited stuff.

There's a world of beverage near the airport on camp creek that you could hit up on 285 before you merge back to 75 south near the airport. Old stock items but I've found some decent stuff there in last years randomly.

Total Wine in Kennesaw. It is also within 4 miles of Burnt Hickory Brewery (DO NOT PASS IT UP!!)
Stockbridge exit I believe 224 then about three miles has Eagles Landing great shop. Exit 212 has one just next to Tanger Outlets bout 400 yards from the exit. Just Tapd at exit 146 then bout 4 miles east is good, right behind McD's. Exit 144 is Classic Bottle Shopoe maybe 5 minutes east of exit. Exit 142 is Galaxy which is great but its tge fartheat from interstate, bout 6 miles east. Tropicalia will be at Total Wine in Kennesaw and prob at the place at exit 212. As for GA beers....Burnt Hickory is very limited distribution...but mind-blowingly awesome. Big Shanty, Cannon Dragger, and Ezekiels Wheel should all be on a GA beer bucket list. Good Luck finding what you seek!

If you're going for BHB, check bottle dates. Lot of old inventory out there right now.

Have had good luck recently with freshness as far south as Corde (exit 101) with sixers of Cannon Dragger from BHB.

I've been to a few of the bottle shops that everyone mentioned, your best bet to get whatever you're looking for is taking 75/85 to freedom parkway and taking that to go to Greens on ponce, it's 5
minutes from the highway. If they don't have what you need there is Hop City Krog street market and also ale yeah Decatur which are 10 minutes from Greens. As far as limited distribution beers I highly recommend Coastal Empire. As others have mentioned there is also Burnt Hickory, Orpheus, 3 Taverns among others.
