Doing a trip from Chicago to Michigan this Sunday to Monday. First stop is Kalamazoo, then to Grand Rapids for evening and following day. Please recommend bottle shops or any suggestions.

Mega-Bev on West Main - Good Prices, huge selection.
Drake's Party Store on Drake - Huge Selection, prices are a few $$ more than other stores.
Tiffany's on West Main - Way too many bad experiences to recommend this place, and the beers seem to sit on the shelves forever.
Salut on Gull Road - Smaller' a bit out of the way but a ho hum selection of Michigan brews.

Honestly if you are going to Grand Rapids, I would stop in Kalamazoo @ Mega-bev and hit up Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids for the best selections and prices that Michigan has to offer.

Any Arcadia barrel aged brews still floating around, or anyone holding some looking for an IP trade for some fresh Chicago(pipeworks#half acre)/3 Floyds stuff?

If you want to go past Kzoo 20 miles to Battle Creek I'm pretty sure I saw some of the Arcadia BBA Impy Stout at Horrocks near downtown. I wouldn't be surprised that you may still find some of either the BBA Cereal Killer or the Impy Stout in Grand Rapids stores, but there will be no chance at any of the Shipwreck Porter anywhere. (It never got released this year. :slight_frown:)

Mmm, BA Shipwreak Porter was damn tasty, I heard it may come out late this year as a every other year release.

I thought that I had read somewhere that maybe it would be released in August. (Here's hoping.) There were a lot of barrels in the brewery last week, so something's happening, although they could just be loading a new batch of something to take to the storage mine.

Hop cat has listed on their bottle menu. Truth?

I can't speak to Hopcat's bottle selection, but Central City Tap House in Kalamazoo has both of the recent Arcadia bottles on their list. I am nearly positive that there is no BB Shipwreck anywhere. I conducted a sweep of local hideouts last fall and bought what I could find. That beer became excellent with 12 months of additional aging. It was on the bottle menu at Gallagher's for a long time.

I heard from a good source that BB Shipwreck was aging and would be back in the "fall". I also remember that BB Cereal Killer and Imp Stout were supposed to be ready much earlier than they eventually were, so take that with a grain of salt.

If you do end up at hopcat, get the crack fries with a side of cheese, you will not be disappointed!

GB Russo in Grand Rapids is a gem.
