A buddy of mine is going to be in Napa Valley this coming weekend and is willing to mule for me. He probably isn't going to have time to make it over to Santa Rosa, but I was wondering if there was any place between Napa and Calistoga that would have Russian River sours or Almanac sours (are there any out right now.) I assume Dean and Deluca in Yountville has a good (but expensive) selection. Thanks for any help.
Dean and deluca is in st helena and doesn't have much. Try either calmart in Calistoga for consecration and damnation or sunshine market in st helena, about 1/4 mile north of D&D on 29 right before downtown st helena.
Try the Whole Foods in Napa. I found Logsdons Oak Aged Bretta, RR Sours, and Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin there a couple of months ago.
What 'eyeenjoybeer' points out is about as good as it gets in Napa. The wife and I travel to Napa at least once a year to do the wine thing and I've noticed that craft beer is pretty weak throughout the valley. Often wondered if it could be a great business opportunity for someone or weak for good reason. With craft growing in popularity, I struggle to believe that a classy bottle shop with great selection in downtown St Helena wouldnt thrive. Hmmm, sounds like a great semi-retirement venture...
Thanks. Forgot D&D isn't in Yountville but it has been a few years since I have been up there and the middle towns (between Napa and Calistoga) kind of blend together when you are wine tasting. I'll have him check out Calmart and Sunshine. BTW is Cook St. Helena still open and a good place for dinner. Only went there once. Is it impossible to get in on Sat night?
