I have someone visiting Platteville this week and I want to get them to bring me back stuff not available back in VA. Where is the best place to send them for New Glarus? And what are the other must haves from WI? Three Floyds and Surly both list distribution to WI. Are they available in Platteville? Thanks.

You can get New Glarus at any grocery store in WI. Moon Man and Spotted Cow just released in 12 pk cans, so I HIGHLY recommend at least getting some Moon Man cans. I've already gone through a 12 this weekend.
Haven't shopped for beer in Platteville since college two years ago, but the Piggly Wiggly is likely still the best spot for variety and price. There is a liquor store on Main Street that may have some different stuff, but not worth a separate trip IMO.

Edit to answer your questions better...

FFF does not make it that far west. Madison is the closest city that would have any. Surly should be around at Piggly Wiggly, but I don't know for sure because they started distro here after I left school.

    Other stuff to look for:
Central Waters-any brewers reserve series... (not sure anything is still on shelves though, maybe some Cherry Stout) also their Happy Summer and HHG are fantastic Pale ales.
Tyranena- Brewers Gone Wild series- could find anything from this year's releases on shelves depending on how fast they've been moving. Any of them are worth picking up a 4 pack though. The newest release (Balling The Queen) is absolutely superb, and miles better than Hopslam IMO. Other releases are variations of barrel aged stouts/porters/browns.

If your buddy has time to kill, Dubuque, IA is 20 minutes away and has two really great bottle shops within a few miles of each other. They will definitely have better selection, and will carry IA distro as well (might find some TG of some sort). They wont have any New Glarus, obviously.
