I'm going to Boston in April to see the Red Sox and will be staying in Burlington MA. What are the best bottle shops in that area?

You could hit Berman's in Lexington on your way to Fenway if you took Route 4.

Redstone in Stoneham is a great bottle shop. Probably 10-15 minutes from Burlington.

Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont, Westford. West Concord Liquors in Concord, and Colonial Liquors in Acton are all about 20-30 minutes away. Haven't been to Harrington's in Chelmsford in a while, but that used to be fine when I was living closer to there (again, 15-20 min away).

Another shout out for Redstones (in Stoneham). One of the best bottle shops in Mass.

Agreed that Redstone in Stoneham is where I do a lot of my shopping.

I've never seen Caporale Liquors in Wakefield mentioned here (maybe I'm not on the forums enough...), but they do a very good job as well. Getting better with social media too. Asked them for a same-day hold on Twitter on a Coffee, Vanilla and Babymaker from JA's and they were back to me within minutes saying no problem.

Large, diverse selection of local stuff and stuff from beyond the area, and I feel like the selection was equivalent to Redstone. Depending on where you are in Burlington, a 10-15 minute drive away.

Although some good things can be found there, beware of old beer and high prices.

Definitely. I am on my guard for those things everywhere though.

If you're not going to Redstone then you aren't doing it right!

My experience with that "chain" has not been a real positive one. The one further north had some things I would buy for a couple of months, then stopped restocking the craft beers. There's one in Lexington that doesn't price their craft beers (meanwhile all booze and wine bottles are individually priced) - and when I inquired with the mgr, he didn't think it was necessary. The one on the other side of Lexington doesn't have much of a selection.

    Redstonnnnnnnneeeee is the best.

For Burlington specific, Burlington Wine and Spirits is pretty good.

ugh so overpriced and beer guy doesn't really now his stuff. $9 BC barleywine, a complete rip...
burlington wine & spirits over priced
    georgio's reasonable & worth it
redstone's good but good beers evaporate in a second
berman's hidden gems like you wouldn't believe
if you think busa and burlington wine and spirits are decent you havent gone to a decent store yet.
and the amount I spend in stores I know about these ones.
but then with the beer in my cellar I don't buy standard stuff

Might want to mention that you can't just go there and drink beer - you have to also order food - which prevents me from stopping in since I'm not a huge fan of their overpriced salad and wispy pizza. According to taplist.at they have had MBC Peeper and Lunch on tap recently and currently have Wormtown Buddha's Juice on.

I'm more of a craft beer cellar fan. I have to drive right by the Belmont store on the way home. Just stopped by Busa, have not shopped there.

My 2 recs as a Burlington resident:

    1) Georgio's in Billerica center: http://www.georgiosliquors.com/
    2) Rapid Liquors in Stoneham: http://rapidliquors.com/ - just down the street from the geek-approved Redstone, with similar selection but better prices. Also, the popular releases (& hoppy stuff) don't disappear in a nanosecond here as they do @ Redstone.

Berman's is in Lexington but as a Burlington resident it is worth it www.bermansfinewines.com/ make sure you go into the back room a stone based room slightly colder than the rest of the store and with a great selection including a rack of cellared beers they keep in the dark.
I do like Redstone's you will always find a great beer just never Lunch or any other such rarity as they get snapped up in 5 minutes
