I'm in Durham for about a week and am looking for some recommendations on bottle shops. I've been here once or twice before but have only been to Sam's Quik Shop. I'm in Durham but definitely will have some time to make it into Raleigh a few times. Thanks in advance!

@jeisemann26 If you like stouts this evening 5pm at Sam's Bottle Shop (SW Durham) will be having a AleSmith - Speedway tap takeover. Hawaiian and Vietnamese will both be on tap. Also, check out Beer Study in Chapel Hill

I'd add Glass Jug up in Durham.

@raleighwho gives some good recommendations. If you're looking for a solid selection of beers to take back to Texas, then try Tasty and Bottle Rev in Raleigh.

Cruise over to Haw River Farmhouse Ales in Saxapahaw. Great beers and a beautiful area. Off of 54 West north of Chapel Hill. Very good food right next door. You'll thank me!

Sam's Quick Shop has the best selection of any store in the state. As much as I like their selection, I find the atmosphere unwelcoming from a shop and drink perspective. As far as atmosphere, I chose Beer Study. They don't get absolutely everything, but their selection is well curated and the owner, JD, drives to Charlotte to get beer that's not distributed here in the Triangle.

In bottles, I'd be on the lookout for Hop Drop & Roll, Birdsong's Jalapeno Pale, and Brah'klava a collab between Haw River, Starpoint and a brewer in the DC area. It's a Belgian golden ale that tastes like the dessert, baklava. It's a completely unique beer. On draft, I'd seek out Double Death Spiral from Trophy. It was on tap at Beer Study last week and it's a really great hoppy beer. When I'm in a new area, I download an app like Untapped or Beer Menus to learn what's on tap nearby.

I had a 8 oz pour of Brah'klava last night and made it through maybe half before giving up. Was not for me.

Ill be there for one night in July staying next to bottle rev raleigh. Is the rest of the list still accurate for bottle shops to hit?

I also have been checking out the triangle beer website. Im assuming that stays up to date.

    Thanks

The shops closest to that area are

Bottle Rev RDU, Glass Jug, triangle wine co, and Sams Bottle Shop.

Ridgewood Wine & Beer may not have the largest selection in town, but they consistantly have the best draft list and best prices. Bottle-wise, theres no filler. You're not gonna find BMC products, just a carefully thought out selection of craft. Also convenient to Durham/RDU on Wade Ave.

Can't imagine a better selection for a quick trip than SAMs. Catch a burger and brew at Bull City Burgers, English style beers brewed in house, scratch made burgers, literally.
