Im going to be in the Duluth area for a short time for my sisters college graduation. I was hoping to stock up on some surly deliciousness and possibly some steel toe (not sure if they distribute). Wondering if there is a good place to go in Duluth. Im know i can check the ba listings but i wanted to see if there are any particular recommendations. If not, plan b will be to stop along the way home... I haven't looked at what cities I'm passing through yet. Thanks in advance!
Steel Toe only distributes to a couple liquor stores all of which are within a mile or two of the brewery. Duluth is about 160 miles from brewery so they do not yet get Steel Toe. As for Surly, I know they pulled out of the Duluth market a while back to focus on supplying the Twin Cities market. I don't recall hearing that they reenter it, but they might have. If you happen to be swinging though the Twin Cities on your way to Duluth you could make a stop at Four Firkins where you could get as much Steel Toe and Surly as your heart desires.
I plan on going to Fitgers.... bummer on the lack of Surly and Steel Toe distro. Looks like I will be traveling through Wisconsin and will be missing the cities. Guess I will have to settle with some Wisconsin treats. Thanks for the info guys.
I saw via facebook a bit ago that Surly was up there for an event, you might be able to locate some, just check some liquor stores and hopefully you will win. as of a week or so ago there was some abyss up there as well.
I will be in Duluth Monday and Tuesday night next week, if you want to bring something interesting to trade I can pick up some Surly before I leave town, no promises on Steel Toe as my weekend is pretty cramped and they don't distro near my house yet.
I'd check out the bottle shop in the lower level of the Fitger's building. They've still got a good amount of last year's The Abyss if that's your thing.

Is this the Warehouse Liquors? I'm definitely a big fan of Abyss and wouldn't mind grabbing a few bottles.
no.. it's at fitgers its called fitgers wine cellar i was there 3 weeks ago and they had 6 bottles of 2011 Abyss in a small side cooler, take a look when visiting the brewhouse they also had some odells IIRC
