My awesome wife got me tickets to the Cubs game this Saturday for our first wedding anniversary. We are driving over Friday night and getting a hotel in Rosemont area. I have friends that live about a mile from Wrigley and we are staying with them on Saturday night. Was wondering the best bottle shop near there that might have offerings from: Pipeworks, Half Acre, Three Floyd's and Revolution. Thanks in advance!

Head south on Clark and go to Lakeview Binnys.

My favorite spot is Bottles & Cans on Lincoln. It also happens to be a short walk from Half Acre if you want to go fill up a growler.

West Lakeview Liquors is about a 20 minute walk (or a 5 minute bus ride) down Addison. This should be an easy one stop shop for all the beers you are looking for.

    Great suggestions so far....thanks!

A few other questions. Does Half Acre/Pipeworks fill any growler at their taproom or does it have to be "their" growler?

Also, what offerings from Half Acre, Pipeworks, Revolution should I be on the lookout for? I have never had anything from any of those breweries. I love IPAs, Stouts, and easy drinking pales/wheats/saisons as well. I know Daisy Cutter is a no brainer. Would I have any luck scoring Citra Ninja or is that out of season right now?

Half Acre will fill any growler. Pipeworks doesn't have a taproom yet.

Also, Pipeworks doesn't have seasonals, just frequent batches of different stuff. You'd have to be here the right week to get Citra Ninja, basically. I've seen a recent batch of Ninja vs. Unicorn still around, though, which is definitely worth trying.

You're not going to go wrong with most offerings from those three breweries. I bet you'd like Majestic, Glaucus, and also any of the stouts from Pipeworks, all of which I've seen around lately. The saisons on the shelf are probably kind of old right now. Revolution cans some of their best beers, like Anti-Hero, Eugene, A Little Crazy, and Rosa. The bottles from Rev are numerous. I'd just read descriptions and see if it sounds good; it probably is. If you see Dos Osos, a collab IPA with Firestone Walker, grab it-- just showed up and is delicious.

Spiteful is another new brewery, well worth trying. Instigator, Bitter Biker, Ghost Bike, Burning Bridges, GFY Stout, etc. Haven't had a bad one.

you cannot buy beer directly from pipeworks. they do not have a taproom. you can only buy bottles from stores or bars.

    Good to know. Thanks!

Sounds like West Lakeview Liquors may be the best "one stop bottle shop" to get what I'm looking for? Do they carry Half Acre stuff as well, or mainly Pipeworks/Revolution?

Half Acre's Tap Room/store is about a mile away from West Lakeview. I would suggest heading to the source if you have the time -- you get to try things before you buy them and it will be a little cheaper. And if you're going to visit Half Acre, might as well stop by Bottles & Cans while on the way/way back.

If West Lakeview's website is any indication (http://www.wlvliquors.com/), they don't have much from Half Acre in stock at the moment (and yes, I see the note that their website is under construction so it may not necessarily be accurate).

ETA: Hell, if you're driving from the Rosemont area to Wrigleyville, take the Belmont exit off I-90 and visit the Beer Temple (http://craftbeertemple.com/videoblog/). Great store, great staff - they should be able to get you what you want.

Awesome info. I think I'll it up West Lakeview for Pipeworks/Revoultion offerings and then swing by Half Acre to get their stuff and hit up Bottles & Cans after.

Now to figure out where to get the best Italian Beef.

West Lakeview and Bottles & Cans are very convenient to Irving Park & Lincoln (more so the latter). If you're short on time on Saturday, maybe focus on Half Acre and Bottles & Cans. On your way out of town or even on your way in, stop by West Lakeview or Beer Temple.

West Lakeview has their website which can give you an idea of what's in stock. Bottles & Cans keeps a page on BeerMenus and you can check that, too: http://www.beermenus.com/places/7691-bottles-and-cans . Beer Temple avoids that since they don't want people cherry-picking the rare stuff as soon as it gets listed. Beer Temple may have the largest selection of locals, but not necessarily convenient to where you're staying -- they do open at Noon on Sundays! But, again, they're all good stores and I can't imagine you would walk away unhappy from any of them.

If you make a stop at the Beer Temple, then forget the Italian beef and walk next door to the Pork Shoppe and pick yourself up a porkbelly pastrami sandwich. Or smoked steak, brisket...hell, all of their stuff is great.

Talked to my buddy I'm staying with on Saturday where he lives in relation to Half Acre and he said, "it's like a 30 second walk from my doorstep." I think I know where we'll be Saturday night.

Had a great weekend! Half Acre taproom last night and had the Navaja DIPA, which blew me away. Honestly one of the best DIPAsI've had. Galactic Double Daisy Cutter was fantastic too! Went back to the taproom today to get a growler of Navaja, but they sent me to the store next door instead and they didn't have Navaja there. Bummer! Oh well... Got a growler of Space instead.

Also hit up Bottles & Cans and met Joe and his wife who were very nice, knowledgeable and had a great shop. Picked up some really nice beers there as well. Highly suggested for anyone in the area.

Ribfest was great too. Had a great time at the Cubs game... even though they suck and lost. Always love visiting Chicago and looking forward to making it back soon.
