We have recently moved to Geater Danbury, and we are looking for good bottle shops. We shop regularly at DeCiccos in Brewster so that is covered. I have tried Fairground in Danbury and not bad. Been to Stew Leonards in Danbury also. Been to Mountainview in Naugatuck and I found a couple vintage things but maybe it was an off day but not as good as I expected. Curious of other places we should check out for interesting selection.
You've nailed the best ones. Add Anconas in Ridgefield to your list. Bridge Wine and Spirits in New Milford is not bad either but I'd hit DeCicco's or Mountainview before there, personally. Similar driving distances and more options in my opinion.
I agree Anconas has a good selection, but they mark there stuff too high on a lot of stuff. Total wine in Norwalk has a big selection at great prices.
Amity in Hamden is good but a drive for you. On a nice afternoon take a ride up Rt 34 off of exit 10, and go to the Dew Drop Inn in Derby. 20 taps, great wings and burgers. If you are a serious glutton, hit the Lake Zoar Drive In on the way home. Hell, you are that far along you might as well go to New Haven and hit one of the three pizza Meccas and Louis Lunch for a burger.
Done Amity and pizza in New Haven in my younger years. Wouldn't have tried Dew Drop though so thanks for the recommendation. If I was going as far as Amity, I would go to Port Chester Beer Distributors, DeCiccos in Ardsley or Beer Necessities in New Rochelle. Trying to avoid 30+ minute drive. Guess I have been spoiled by Soutern Westchester
Another place that is a short drive from you that is worth checking out is Pies and Pints in Middlebury. It is a few miles off of 84 and easy to find. Takes about 15 minutes from Danbury. 20 taps I think. Reasonable pizza.
These 2 have it covered, and add "My Place" in Newtown as an awesome beer bar. The original beer destination in the area.
Thanks all!!! Been to My Place a bunch of times. I just missed Igor's Dream on tap last Friday. I guess I was hoping for more, but looks like nothing new to uncover.
One more suggestion....Greenwoods in Bethel recently stepped up their tap game, they are in the 20-ish range now also. Food is so-so, but you can't beat the patio on a nice afternoon. Go next door for food.
Stanziato's is another good suggestion. Very short tap list but usually very good and good variety of styles. Pizza is good but not NH quality.
Hoping for more than Deciccos, the 2 big Danbury stores, the other you mentioned including Total Wine? Wow. You have to go further then...Half Time in Poughkeepsie, Bierkraft in Brooklyn...
Yeah, DeCicco's in Brewster is great, but I am typically with kids and more worried about getting the grocery shopping done I was just fishing to make sure I have covered all the bases and it looks like there are a couple of options to still try which I will. The restaurant recommendations have been great and I will need to try those.
