Anyone own one of these? They look awesome, but I was wondering how well they worked. The link for the website is: www.TheBottleWrench.com . Thanks for any info.

Seems kinda silly. This is the only bottle opener you'll ever need:

With that said I have not issue with keeping a novelty opener around, I just have not seen one that has impressed me enough to buy.

Wow, flame on! Notice this was posted in breweriana, where absolutely no talks about the gimicky ass glass of the month. Remind me again what this months is again......Anyways some people enjoy collecting different things, if they happen to be functional as well, bonus for me. Also I don't remember asking what your favorite opener was and really don't care. Thanks for no insight whatsoever...

Hmm, looks like its simply a wrench cut off at the proper angle. I might have to give this one a try next time I'm bored, certainly have plenty of old wrenches around.
Yes, there are plenty of different ways to open a beer. Craziest I've tried is a chainsaw (worked surprisingly well). Nothing wrong with buying an interesting opener just because you like the design.

Yeah guys, lighten up. Do you want people posting in your glassware threads saying something like, "who needs that pansy ass fancy glass when a plain old pint glass works just fine?" I have a small collection of novelty/interesting/artsy fartsy bottle openers that I really like and I don't know why anyone would think there is anything wrong with that.

Sears has a wrench shaped opener too if your looking for tool themed openers.

Never used one, but neat concept. I also like the green 550-cord loop on the end.

I like different openers as much as most beer geeks, but it seems kinda wasteful to take a functioning wrench and hack off a lobe just to make one. Now, if the wrench broke and you still want to get some useful life out of it, go ahead, hack away.

Ehh, wrenches only cost a quarter or so from a pawn shop mixed bin, cheaper than almost any real opener.

I did not mean to be mean with the hammer post/comment.

Also this puts in in mind of the old paint can/bottle openers. It's like the tool is winking at drinking on the job.

Well, just made one. Easy enough to do with a cutting wheel and a hand file. Took me two tries to get one that fits perfectly, but i was just guessing on where to cut.
Would have been easier to just buy one for 8 bucks, but I like to make stuff, and I hate foreign tools.

Craftsman makes a bottle opener that looks like a socket wrench.

To kinda answer the original question, my homemade knockoff works wonderfully. Just opened an Abyss straight out of the fridge, without removing or cutting the wax first. The Bic lighter method sure won't do that.
Tradeoff is that it dents the crap out of the caps, but I only save one of each variety as a fridge magnet, so usually doesn't concern me. Just for S&G's, i tried putting a quarter on the cap earlier, and it removed the cap sans dent. Easier to just use a lighter in that case though.

If you're gonna be like that, then "Notice this was posted in breweriana, ". This opener has no affiliation with any brewery, and so, is not breweriana.

I'd rather have a bottle wench than a bottle wrench.
