Well, I suppose in 10 years of trading and close to 500 boxes, I had to have a broken bottle at some point!

I shipped a box of 12 bottles to myself and 2 broke. FedEx repackaged the beers (so they clearly knew it was beer), and delivered it as if nothing happened. The box was delayed (I shipped via Overnight), and when I called their support, all they knew was that the box was "mis-scanned" and they didn't know why it was delayed. It came the next day.

My question is: Does FedEx make a note of things like this such that there is a risk of them searching my boxes in the future?

    Thanks!

I had a similar situation happen to me in February and since then I've had several boxes either sent to me or ones that I sent out be returned to sender do to "improper shipments"

I don't believe so. I had a damaged box last month. They discovered it was alcohol. I have shipped probably 8 boxes since without any issues.

Hmm. So it sounds like they search your boxes now? Did you have this issue before that instance?

Had an issue with FedEx earlier this year where a bottle broke in one of two boxes (shipped together) and both boxes were returned to me, I actually got a warning letter as well after a couple weeks. Went to UPS for my next couple boxes, did a couple small ones on FedEx, and have been back on FedEx since with no issues.

It might just be bad luck for all I know since I've shipped other boxes with no issues. I had no issues with any boxes prior to the on in February

FedEx, to the best of my knowledge, flags accounts for a few reasons - history of nonpayment, undeclared dangerous goods (flammable, radioactive, NOT alcohol), and sometimes they work with local law enforcement if an account is suspected of shipping illegal drugs.

I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

I had a growler break. It was re-boxed inside a trash bag and mailed back to me with the note on top saying a bottle of beer froze and broke.

No letter, no hollering, and I've had 10-15 boxes go out and come in without any issues. It is a legit company account though, not sure if that makes a difference in comparison to an individual's.

I have had a similar experience to several folks in here: a few bottles broke in one of my shipments (first and only time) and it was returned to me, each beer wrapped in extra mailers, all in a plastic bag, additional packing material and a brand new box. No warning, no note, just returned to me and I have had ZERO issues since then (this was 4-6 weeks ago IIRC).

Waiting fore some info on a "damaged package" that has been held up in one location for 4 days now. How long before I should know something?

Had a box inbound to me have a bottle break. It was held at a sort facility in my city for about 3 days and then a lady called me to let me know a bottle broke, that they were repacking the box and if I wanted to have the package sent to the address listed, held at a local shop or sent back to sender. I've since shipped a few dozen boxes to and from and no issues.
