I'm doing a trade with a close friend who lives in Chicago. I currently live in North Carolina and want to request some good breweries/bottles that I can't get down in NC. They don't have to necessarily be from Illinois, just bottles that are distributed to that area which aren't distributed to NC.
He told me to give him a 10-20 list of what I want but cant get out in NC and he would try his best to secure what he can!
This is my list thus far; Three Floyds Brewery, Pipeworks Brewery, Shorts Brewery, New Glarus Brewing Company, Griffin Claw Brewing Company, Kuhnhenn Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing Company, Half Acre, and I'm not sure if Topping Goliath is distributed to that area.

I hoping my beer advocate friends will be able to help!

Check out http://seekabrew.com/distro/index.html This will give you an idea as to what gets distro'd to Illinois. I can tell you TG does not get distro'd here nor does Shorts, New Glarus, Kuhnhenn or Griffin Claw.

There are some on your list that are not distributed to Chicago (Shorts, New Glarus, Griffin Claw, Kuhnhenn, TG). Not sure how up to date their site is, but this should give you a good starting point: http://www.seekabrew.com/distro/compare.html

EDIT: looks like Jaycase beat me to it

Oh bummer, I was really hoping for some New Glarus! Look like I will have to take a trip up to Michigan.
Do you guys have any other suggestions?

If you get pipeworks stuff, make sure it's fresh. Some of their NvU series and hoppy beers can taste pretty shitty after a month or so.

Why style of beer styles do you like?

Well, you might want to head to Wisconsin for the New Glarus . There is an embarrassment of beer riches available in Illinois. We are quite lucky. FFF, PW, Rev & Half Acre are a good start. Just check seekabrew and see which breweries you are interested in and let your friend know.

I think you mean Wisconsin. And if you find the right Illinois trader, NG is easily sourced right across the border, so you can usually kill two birds with one stone.

    Jaycase strikes again!

Looks like Firestone Walker isn't distributed to North Carolina? Even though they are not an IL brewery that could be a good one to add to the list if you haven't had FW before.

I'd add Spiteful Brewing to your list (GFY Stout regular, coffee and imperial are worth checking out) and recommend getting up to Kenosha in WI to Woodman's for your NG fix. I'd also watch for Central Waters Brewer's Reserve Barleywine while you're in WI. CW is distributed to IL but the barley wine is tough to find and it's sooo good. If you get your NG watch for Enigma, I just got some yesterday and it rocks. Enjoy your trip!
