If you're drinking something like Parabola, Speedway or King Henry, of course you'll go with the bottle. I think the personal touches you can achieve with a wonderful cellar beer (with aging and even your surroundings upon consumption) are one of the factors that make them great. That being said, I don't drink something like Parabola, Speedway or King Henry everyday. When I want to get out with some friends and socialize, we hit the bar and throw back some IPAs or APAs and in my area, they're usually a lot fresher than the bottles I can get. I'll revise my earlier statement and not say Always but for the average beers I drink day to day, tap is the way to go.

Is that true for craft, macro, or both in your area?

I like tap better, but you usually pay a lot more. :-(

I can only vouch for the craft beers but I suspect it is for both.

I definitely find that taps are fresher than bottles around here. No matter what beer you're drinking.

I'm going to throw this one out there and have no idea if it holds any credence or not. Could it be because bars have a limited number of tap selections compared to beer stores and bartenders make recommendations that people explore (who may not have tried that particular beer in the first place)? I have no idea, just a thought. I know, I know...just shut up and drink your beer, McFly!!

I've had alot more bad luck with tap beers not tasting proper than bottles being old or skunked so I prefer bottles. A few exceptions with a couple of taps I had that were far superior than bottled offerings of the same. I just think I don't have access to frequent high quality tap houses and generally have bad luck with subpar establishments taps.

That's strange, around here the opposite is true.

I prefer tap, but usually drink bottles at home. My kegerator has been very neglected lately.

Tap for beers that aren't bottled. Bottled beers for beers that are both in the bottle and on tap (most of the time). Reason? I would rather spend my money on beers I can't get in bottle format if I am drinking at a bar.

Taps are great but I prefer bottles a bit more. I like the portability and I get to keep both the bottle, the beer label, and the bottle cap.

I won't even talk about the beers that you can only have on tap. Try Ivan the Terrible on tap or Surly Furious. Totally different experiences from can and bottle.

Bottles or cans when I'm home; Taps when I'm out at a bar.
