So is this Judgement Day aged in Tequila barrels with agave or a dark sour? I guess only time will tell...

The problem is that this will be a rare beer so it's mere existence in Seattle will be incongruous & inaccurate.

Don't just blame Tomme if you don't like the label. I'm sure Matt & Matt approved.
I never knew there was provincial disdain for downtown Seattle by Wallingford & Fremont. Who do you think you are? Tacoma?

Indeed ... but since I can neither buy the bear yet nor confirm what's inside idle speculation is the best I've got.

I think it is a pretty cool label...they clearly put some thought into it, which is cool considering most of the recent labels have been pretty boring/typical. Can't wait to find out what this is...

12 per person? Must be a ton of it.

    Tuesday March 4th, not 3rd.

Do they usually have it on draft on the release day? Would love to try it before purchasing bottles.

    Oops. Edited.

I've only been to one anniversary release (last year's), so I'm not sure how typical this is, but last year the anniversary beer was on draft, along with several other nice beers that included past anniversary releases as well.

^^^^^ What he said. Previous anniversary beers on draft as well as the current release.

So... What kind is it? Besides tequila barrel aged?

The Fremont BAFL-beer motto is rubbing off on them.

And, tooting my own horn, I called "no rare beer" earlier in the thread. ;-)

I don't trade so the "rare" thing doesn't matter to me, but I am curious if this will see distribution outside Bottleworks (ie. Stone's anniversary beer)?

Expect events on Monday and Tuesday of next week, per my visit to Bottleworks a moment ago. Updated blog post apparently forthcoming this evening.

I heard they were supposed to get beer from a certain Belgian brewery this week. Wonder if it is true/related.

2400 or so bottles between the three businesses, with I think around a dozen sixtels.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I got a lot of licorice and tootsie roll, vanilla as it warmed up. The tequila is there, but totally pleasant.

    What's on tap?

I was there earlier. It is QUIET there compared to last year. The Anniversary beer is good. I got a ton of brown sugar, as well as the aformentioned tootsie roll. Little bit of tequila on the nose, lots more in the glass, though it integrates well. Beer is earthy, and drier than expected. Overall, a very nice experience.

BW XII.1 and XI are also on tap. The original 12 is still FANTASTIC, with tons of fresh fruit left in it. It's also tarter than I remember last year.

Off the top of my head ... Bottleworks 15, Bottleworks 12 (Bruery), Bottleworks 10 (I think it was 10 ... whichever was Big Sky), Chuckanut Pilsner, Engine 9 Holy Saison, pFriem Rye IPA (or maybe something else pFriem), Wild Beer Bliss, Fremont Trifect, others.

The tap list on their site isn't up to date.

I had the BW 15, BW 11, and Big Bad Baptist on tap.
The 15 is great. BA's who don't pick up at least a bottle or two will regret it later.
I counted 7 people in line including me 3 minutes before they opened. Very low key then.

15 is surprisingly good. Leagues better than judgement day.

Yeah, I got there about five minutes late. I was afraid I'd have to stand in line forever, and might miss something good on tap. Instead, I walked right in, got a pour of XV and XII never had to stand in a line. It was nice.

I had a great time. BW 15 had extremely well integrated tequila flavors and I'm positive they were nicer barrels (reposado or anejo). BW XI used to be one of my favorite anniversary beers but the diacetyl keeps getting stronger producing crazy butterscotch flavor/smell in the nose and mouth. BW XII (batch 1) is really killer. Fruits are dying out a bit and it is dryer and funkier but I love it. I really hope batch 2 gets closer to batch 1 eventually.

I also finally met Larry (NWer) and had a nice convo with him. Hope to meet more of you all next time.

    Cheers,
    Ryan

Isn't the price supposed to go up every day til they're gone?

Also, there were two BW X:
    (1) HotD Matt BW X
    (2) New Belgium BW X

The New Belgium one is an absolutely incredible AWA. Absolutely phenomenal if you can get your hands on it. This was a crazy blend of the old, unpasteurized La Folies.
