All - have a kriek in in process. I'm a ways from bottling but wondering how to approach it.

Initial plan was to get some nice bottles, cork and cage them - pretty normal right? Got to thinking that it might be a ton easier on the wallet if I were to use flip top lids (Grolsch style).

Wondering if I can carbonate/condition in the flip top or should I spring for the corker, corks, cages?

I'm not driven by tradition here (my first kriek) but more like economy.

Yes. Flip tops are fine for carbonating and aging. I use them all the time for my Belgians.

What ever you do make sure you re-yeast using something like US-05 or other clean neutral flavor yeast. As far as corks and cages I've done them and yeah it gets a little costly. Flip top would be fine, just inspect the gasket well.
