Ive seen and read many articles on carbonation temperatures. I'm worried about it getting too hot. I had to add yeast for carbing since my imperial stout was in secondary for 4 mths. Would you recommend my letting the bottles carb in the basement at 68-70 degrees or up in my first floor closet at 78 degrees?

I'd go basement for ~2wks. What's your ABV?

9.7%. Basement was my preference too.

Given those choices, I'd recommend the 68-70.

Beer stales more quickly at higher temps. About 3 times quicker every 10 degrees. That in mind I would also choose the 70* option. Thats the ideal anyway.

I usually go room temp (68-70) for two days then to the basement where the temp is the same as what the fermentation temp was.

I basically did that...well one day at 78 then moved them down today to the basement.
