Okay I just signed up because I bough this thing. it was listed for 450 but I got the feeling they just wanted it hauled off because it came with the building they bought so I offered $100. It is an older Perlick. I use to go to the bar when it was open athatnd it obviously ran fine then. They claimed it ran fine when the place closed 4 years ago also but it hasnt been turned on or used since. So, it is pretty rough but complete, minus the hoses and towers. Was this a decent deal or no? Would it be a bad idea to just plug it in and see what happens or should I check something first. I dont know anything about kegs or even how to turn it on lol.
Funny, in another forum someone just bought a very similar unit for $600. You won't hurt anything by plugging it in and seeing if it cools. That's the really the starting point. Cover the tower holes with something, put a 5 gallon bucket of water in it and see how it goes.
