Totally agree that Royal Arch is tough, even after living at altitude for awhile. ;-) Walking around Chautauqua or starting a hike from NCAR is fun.

If you head to the Tasty Weasel for beers and crowlers, check out Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids (a separate location nearby) for some awesome comfort food options and a great taplist. Powder Keg also has some limited food options, my favorite being their empanada offerings from Rincon Argentino (an empanada place located SUPER close to Backcountry which, as previously, stated is definitely a restuarant/beer bar you want to go to).

The Celestial Seasonings factory in Gunbarrel (close to Avery and on the way to Powder Keg in Niwot and Oskar Blues in Longmont) is a fun touristy destination for non-beer geeks and there's a surprisingly good (and free) Western art museum, called Leanin' Tree, nearby, too. Enjoy your time out here! :-)

Can anyone give me some info on the best means of getting around the area? Does Uber have a good presence in the area? My wife may not be able to come with me, leaving without a DD, and I would prefer to have a reliable way to get back to the hotel each night without having to worry too much. Thanks in advance.

Uber is good, but you won't want to Uber it back and forth between Boulder and Denver unless you've got bags of money to spend.

For simply getting around Boulder, the bus service around Boulder is decent if you're not afraid of mixing with the plebs, and if you're especially cool, try the bike sharing system. Cabs are a hit or miss proposition (mostly miss) in Denver/Boulder, IMHO.

If you're in Denver you neeeed to go to Euclid Hall, Freshcraft and Star Bar -- the first two for food and beer selection and the third for awesome rare releases. All in downtown area. Terminal Bar right in Union Station where you take the light rail to Denver to catch the bus to Boulder has a pretty nice beer selection, no walking required.

In and around Boulder find what breweries have food trucks on what day and eat there. The Boulder County food truck scene is almost better/on par with the restaurant scene.

Get thee to East Boulder County if you can -- Lafayette is just bursting with breweries and Longmont is home to Left Hand and Oskar Blues (who also operate three restaurants and a tasting room in town)

I suppose I should clarify that I am staying in Boulder. I wouldn't mind using public transit, but given that I'm looking into this in case I am less than fully-functioning at the end of the evening, I don't know how much I want to try to navigate a new system. Any guesses how much a local Uber ride would cost?

On a different note, curious if anyone would like to meet up for an in-person trade. I have a couple of things from my neck of the woods that might be of interest, and I'd love to get some stuff I wouldn't be able to find while I'm in town. I'm not sure it's within BA rules to post trade offers in a thread like this, so if anyone is curious/interested just message me.

Thanks again to everyone for all of the advice and help. I'm really looking forward to the trip, thanks in large part to the information you all provided.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for all of the advice! I ended up having a great trip (aside from losing my driver's license right before taking off for Boulder). Ended up visiting Avery, FATE, Sanitas, West Flanders, Mountain Sun, Upslope, and Backcountry Pizza for 2x4 day. Not bad for four days! Found lots of good beer to drink (and plenty to take come). Thanks again, all.

Hey guys, I see a lot of great recommendations here. My sister is coming to town the second week of April and she lives just outside of Boulder. I would love for her to bring me some beers that we don't get down here in South Florida. I would really like for her to find a BA tenfidy and some death by coconut but not sure if that is realistic. I'm into sours, wild ales, IPA's, stouts, and porters but up for any suggestions.

    Thank you in advance.

Death by Coconut should be easy. She should follow the Tasty Weasel Facebook page. Probably won't find a can, but may be able to get a crowler. They typically release BA Ten Fidy on tap every few months. Last one was a couple of weeks ago.

Crooked Stave beers are easy to come by for wilds and sours (not sure if you get in FL?). DBC is easy. BA TenFidy is much more difficult like rkarimi mentioned above. People are liking Codename: Superfan IPA in cans, but also some of the stuff from Four Noses and Station 26 (in cans). Since I'm assuming space in her luggage is limited, might have her scope out the mix-6 section at a place like Hazels.

    Hello FrontRangers!

Bringing back this thread as I'm heading to Boulder/Longmont this upcoming weekend from Durango. Is the area going to be shitshow with CU and CSU graduations happening concurrently???

Looking to hit Hazels and Boulder Liquor Mart for some front range only distro. Can anyone give me a heads up on what to look for that doesn't make it west of the divide? All suggestions welcome, but mainly looking for IPAs, Sours, and Stouts (go figure eh?).

    Thanks for the help!

Hahahahaha, yeah, it's gonna be a mess with CU's gradation. That being said, for IPAs Hazel's has Melvin's 2x4 which it's petty limited distribution, and Bottles might still have Pliny. As for stouts, Avery just dropped Callipygian which is real killer. Vindication's Freedom Stout isn't blow you away good, but it's amazing for the price. Avery also has brewery only distribution of sours like Vallum and III Dolia that are awesome. Backcountry Pizza is going to have the widest selection of super amazing, rare beers on tap in Boulder.

    Ok, so quick follow up...

We are actually staying in Longmont. Any liquor stores closer to that area or is it worth it to stop in Boulder at Hazels?

Wyatt's in the Village at the Peaks is rather good. In my opinion, on par with Hazels (fewer mix six / singles, though. Also doesn't get some stuff like Russian River), and definitely worth hitting if you can't or don't want to make it down to Boulder. I'd suggest hitting Wyatt's first and then decide if you want to make the trek down to Boulder.

My wife and I are doing Denver, CO Springs, and Boulder 5/18-5/24 coming from WI. Does anyone have a few BA Ten Fidy's they would be willing to trade?

    Thanks~
