I was wondering if any ba's could give some advice/insight on how difficult this would be to trade for, and what is the trade value around this. Everything I have is basically chicago distro but barrel aged and some stuff that was limited/harder to get. Not sure if I would have the weight to get this done, but would like to try. First born is coming this spring and ideally this is the beer I want to open and celebrate with first. I know they only bottle about 1,300 and that was a few years ago, so I figure it won't be the easiest trade. I am still working on gauging the whole trade value thing. Thanks for any help/thoughts. Cheers Jeff
I thought I read somewhere it was < 1000 bottles, and was what 3 years ago...ain't gonna be cheap or easy...
Just a heads up, there is a beer trading talk and help forum under the trading section where you may get more/better input. For my part I have very little idea what you might need to offer up but I would think bourbon county variants would be a possible starting point, just guessing at what you may have based on your description of your gots.
Ya. Unfortunately it seems like hard to get variants are needed to get it done. I did also post in the trade help forum but tossed it in he Midwest forum as well to see if I could catch the right pair of eyes. Thanks!
If I remember some chatter on hear a a while back, LC #1 was only distributed to beer shop owners and distributors in 1 bottle increments. Not sure of the validity of this, but the only time I have seen a bottle, it was an empty at the Wine and Cheese Place here in StL. My guess would be that this would take a ton and you would have to know/find someone very close to the Boulevard folks.
Sorry to pile on, OP, but you have a pretty substantial uphill battle ahead of you. Just for reference, there are only 36 total ratings on BA and 17 total ratings on that other beer site (speaking to the extremely limited nature of this beer). And at least one BA already has a head start on your search: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...can-brewing-the-perfect-storm-ft-list.242527/ But I post this because it might help give you an idea on what to give up. I think the real trick is going to be finding one in the first place. Once you get that part solved, I'm sure you can find the right bottle combination, depending on how eager you are to obtain it.
I am relatively certain Love Child 1 didn't actually hit distribution, I've only sampled it at Boulevard tasting events. @TheJermis can confirm.
Correct. Love Child No. 1 was not released for wide distribution. We poured bottles at samplings, fests, and dinners.
@LambicPentameter No worries about piling on, I appreciate the help. My original searches didn't give me much background info so I was just hoping to get some by creating this thread. I didn't know it wasn't distributed so just the pieces of info gathered already help substantially. Just got into the craft beer scene about 2 1/2 years ago so it was before my time, And I want it for a sentimental reason and a keepsake than the urge for say a vertical. Love child 4 was my first sour and I loved it. But from the sounds of it it's gotta be find someone with a bottle, and throw rares at them lol
I'd echo what has already been said in this thread. For what it's worth OP, a very generous employee from Boulevard brought her own personal bottle of LC #1 to my local Binny's to compare to, at that time, the recently released LC #3. While it was holding up nicely, the consensus was LC #3 was the superior beer.
The only reason I would require a lot for mine is because it really isn't up for trade (which I imagine is the case with the majority of bottles or they have been consumed, which is good because LC#1 is definitely going downhill) because I plan on doing LC#1-5 (maybe 6 now since they are both coming out in 2015). Anyways, this beer didn't have high trade value when it was "released" but I imagine most people are pretty attached to theirs at this point. Cheers!
LC1 was available here in Kansas. My local initially got 2 cases, and another order a little later. It did disappear off the shelves, I recall getting one bottle from each order. But, in my world, an aged beer is a month old.
Love Child No. 1 bottles were not released for wide distribution. There were never intended to be sold at retail and even carried a "not for resale" note where a UPC code would be.
