If you may not have figured out, every good beer used to "sit on the shelf." It's not a BeerAdvocate thing or a hype train thing, it's that craft beer's audience has gotten bigger. I run into people all the time buying good beer in the store who have never even heard of BA or any other beer website. Bourbon County Stout used to sit on shelves 2-3 years at a time, you could buy vintages. Expedition, Hop Slam, Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen, you could find all of these just sitting on shelves waiting to be purchased. Not anymore. Our space has grown, and I feel like the growth of really good (top tier) beers hasn't grown at the same rate as those who crave them.
