I like how Boulevard has a Rep / Brewer that posts here and always gives solid answers to valid questions.

Most of their beer is pretty good too. BB Quad, Tank 7 / brett, and 80 acre are my favorites. Not a fan of Single Wide IPA (way too floral with Bravo overload). They should do a seasonal / rotating IPA series. Everyone should.

Not to push too much farther off topic but it was probably because it was filmed in Missouri. The story takes place in Cape Giradeau which is on the eastern side of Missouri, Boulevard being in Kansas City, the western side of Missouri. Probably did it to give a nod to a great Missouri brewery.

The Bully Porter was one of the first micro-brews that I drank; I think they are pretty solid in general.

Thank you for your prompt reply to both of my questions!

As regards my third question of "Is there any way to compare secondary conditioning at the brewery with bottle conditioning as regards the development of funk?" it was a question of rate and amount. In other words, does bulk conditioning using Brett occur faster then for the bottles? Does the bulk conditioning using Brett result in a bigger Brett character (i.e., more funk) then for the bottles?

    Cheers!

Just wish the Dry Stout could make a comeback at some point. I miss that, especially on nitro.

Boulevard makes great beers. I really enjoy the Strange Tripel, Dark Truth, The Sixth Glass, Saison Brett and Tank 7. Since we have a Boulevard Brewer in the mix I'd like to suggest cans. It would be great to take some tank 7 on float trips, fishing, and golfing.

I said "most" not "all except". I don't care much for either of those. Saison Brett is pretty good with a few years on it. I'm not saying Tank 7 is garbage. But if I was at a bar and I had to choose between that, bmc, and sobriety. I would choose sobriety.

Boulevard is a great brewery. Many different styles are represented, with the offering of 6-packs, 4-packs, and singles. They do collaborations, and are nice enough to have a brewer post responses to BA questions. They are also willing to try new things, even if the results are horrendous(Entwined).

Tank 7, Love Child, and Saison Brett are incredible. The Bourbon Barrel Quad, Imperial Stout, Double Wide, and Grainstorm are all also very good but those first 3 mentioned are in a league of their own.

The thing I love about Boulevard as they are what I'd call a gateway brewery and a destination brewery. The Unfiltered Wheat and Pale Ale were a couple of the beers that really introduced me to craft beer. There is nothing fancy about them but they're very drinkable, quality beers. I still drink both as well as 80 Acre and a few of their other regular beers. However, if I want a bigger more complex beer, any of there Smokestack beers fit the bill. The Rye on Rye is one of my all time favorites and I was sad to see I'd have to wait till the fall for its next release.

I've had Tank 7, BBQ, Double Wide, and Single Wide. All fine offerings.

Tank 7, Sixth Glass are excellent IMO. Long Strange Tripel also very good.

I like their Grainstorm Black Rye IPA. Check it out if you get a chance.

I've liked almost everything I've tried from them. I think their standard fare can be a little lackluster but it's decent, but the Smokestack Series has all been pretty outstanding in my book. Love that 6th Glass, Tank 7 and Dark Truth! And I pretty much drink Nutcracker as soon as it gets here until I can't find it anymore.

Everything in Boulevard's Smokestack series and year-rounders are worth trying. I'm not a big fan of their seasonals, however. My favorites...hmmmm....
    Long Strange Tripel
    Saison Brett
    Double Wide
    BBQ
    Tank 7
    KC Pils
    Reverb
    Reboot
    Wheat

Comparing Boulevard and Sam's quality is absurd. Absurd! Whatever, more for me.

Yup, nothing on that schedule worth drinking.

I can't really speak to that as we don't ever really do any "bulk" inoculation with Saison-Brett. The beer is kegged or bottled the day it's inoculated so there's not really an opportunity to see how the brett performs in the bright tank. I wouldn't imagine there's much difference though as we don't notice a ton of difference between 1/6 bbl kegs and 750 ml bottles.
