I went to the Boulevard Brewing Co. earlier this month (August 6th) and had a good experience. I took their abbreviated tour, because I was there for a work function and we were short on time. The brewery allowed our company to cater in JJ Stacks BBQ and we ate that and drank ourselves silly. There wasn't any Smokestack offerings on tap, but still had 8 beers on tap with their signature staples (Single-Wide IPA was my main dish). Their tasting room is big and has a killer 2nd floor patio overlooking downtown KC.
On a side note...I highly urge you to seek out Perennial Artisan Ales out of St Louis at one of the liquor stores. It was damn good, as was my beer from Prairie Artisan Ale offering (a Belgian IPA).

I believe you were in one of our event spaces, either the Brewhouse Bar or the Muehlebach Suite. The Tasting Room is on the ground level of our original building that houses our 35 bbl brewhouse. All three spaces are pretty sweet though.

We always have Tank 7 on draft, but never have any of the year round Smokestack beers on draft as we don't keg any of the others. You'll also usually find a test beer or two as well as the current Tasting Room beers, currently Ginger-Lemon Radler, ESB, and Oatmeal Stout.
