I'm drinking a Double-Wide IPA right now with a "best-by date" of 2/1/15, so I picked it up, thinking it had a six month code or something. Popped the cork and the bottle started gushing, which I thought was weird for an IPA that should be brand new. Poured it and noticed immediately that it tasted old, so I searched on how to decode their Julian codes. The stock they sent to Florida was bottled in April. Sending six month (potentially mishandled due to the gushing) bottles of IPA to a new market is a great way to win over customers, guys.

So their IPAs has a 10 month shelf life?

Most likely the distributor at fault. I would give the brewery the benefit of the doubt that they don't sit on inventory, especially in regards to IPAs. Looks like Brown pushing them in my area.

Brown launched Boulevard just two weeks ago though, so I can't help but fault the brewery.

Unless they bought old beer from an overstocked distributor elsewhere (likely at a discount). Most breweries (even ones with the new finances of Boulevard) don't remotely have space to hold onto 6 month old beer. Someone definitely dropped the ball, though. JJ Taylor wouldn't make that mistake....

Anyone seen Love Child 4 around Tampa/St. Pete?

I'd be happy to look into this for you if you'd be willing to email me at jdanner at boulevard dot com. In the future, please feel free to reach out to me directly as I'm able to provide information more quickly if contacted via email versus searching the forums.

I grabbed one in the Orlando area and it was bottled 7/16. Not as fresh as I would like but not terrible. Haven't tried it yet but will report back if it tastes old. I do think DW lasts a little longer than many IPA's but April is really pushing the limit for sure. Also with it gushing like that sounds like it was not stored/transported properly.

I hope you enjoy it. I'd like to point out that we, as the brewery, do relatively little to generate any hype surrounding our beers. We simply left folks know what we're working on and when you can expect to be able to buy it. I hope that you're able to judge the beer against our stated intentions rather than independently created buzz.

No worries. I tend to keep my expectations pretty in check when it comes to beer. When I refer to the hype, it's the excellent reviews you've obtained on this here website. I'll make sure to report back after I pop my bottle this weekend.

Good deal. We're all very happy with the blend and how the beer turned out. Definitely report back with your thoughts. I'd love to hear them. Also, I'll be in Tampa next week for launch events and a badass tap takeover at Cigar City.

Yes. I wish I lived closer. Are there any plans to Distrubte that Hibiscus Gose further south?

Hibiscus Gose was a one time release back in August so it won't be showing up in our new markets until next year.
