From the label below, it looks like Boulevard is going to be releasing a new canned offering before long: Tropical Pale Ale. Boulevard and Cigar City Brewing released a collaboration beer of the same name in 2015, and from the label, it appears it will feature the same fruit additions as that collaboration as well (grapefruit and passionfruit). Not sure if the rest of the recipe will be the same or not (hop/malt bill, etc.)? Regardless, this looks like it will be a great Spring/Summer crusher and will come packaged in 12oz cans and will clock in at 5.9%abv. No word on release date at the moment.

Sounds good theoretically, but I didn't enjoy the beer at all. For a PA, I tasted no hop presence whatsoever. There was a vague muted sweetness that suggested fruit, but I didn't get any of the bright, pithy attributes of grapefruit. The description was right up my alley and I really enjoy most Boulevard beers...but this was a miss for me. I'm sure many others liked it...

I agree with @Hoos78, a tropical themed pale ale from two great breweries? It'd a can't miss!

But then it was. It basically tasted like a mediocre pale ale they dumped fruit cocktail into. Call me if the Sierra Nevada beer camp tropical goes into cans.

If you look at their website though, the 2016 release calendar shows a Core+Year Round beer called Fruit Pale Ale. It is under the section that contains their other canned beers and shows it starting in April and continuing through the rest of the year. I would assume these are one in the same beer. Curious what the final details will be and whether or not this is very similar to the Collab 5. It just all seems pretty confusing right now with an identical name and description. Definitely will check it out when it hits, although I agree that the Collab 5 needed a few tweaks. There was zero hop presence that I could discern and the whole thing was just a bit too sweet and malty. Almost like a wine cooler instead of a beer. I think with a few minor changes it could be great though.

I'm excited to give this one a go. Could potentially be a great warm weather go to.

Great news! Staunchly loyal to Boulevard since they exposed many of us from KC to this wonderful industry.

I'll repeat.......Nothing wrong with these type beers, which back away from overly hopped concoctions.

Amen! You're certainly right. For my own tastes, a hop bite goes a long way to increase a beer's refreshing qualities. Just my preferences though...and if they are turning a one-timer into a regular canned release then their customers must have been happy with it on balance.

I for one really like Colab #5 with Cigar City. If this is anything close to that, I'll definitely be drinking it.
