After buying six Rye on Rye bottles today I was looking back on all the great boulevard beers I' 've had since being in this area. I'd have to say my top three would be rye on rye, saison Brett, and third would be bourbon barrel quad. Just wondering if anyone else is into smokestack series and what tops their list.

Just drank a Saison Brett this past Sunday. It was tasty. Sadly I had one of the infected Chocolate Ale's last winter, but I did get a refund from them. Lots of respect for Boulevard.

I really enjoy the Smokestack series. I've had all of them that have been out in the past 2 years now. Standouts to me were the Rye-on-Rye, BBQ, SB, Love Child #2, Chocolate Ale, Imp. Stout and Seeyoulator. Seeyoulator fresh was like getting hit in the mouth with a cedar 2x4, and I loved it.

I didn't care that much for Nommo Dubbel. I haven't had the Harvest Wheat Wine lately to remember how it was.

I haven't had the chance to try Seeyoulator. They way you describe it though makes me want to find one now.

Grainstorm Black Rye IPA is coming in January. I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but the brewery is pretty stoked on how it turned out. It will be available in limited draft and 750s.

“Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the root cellar, along comes Grainstorm, a big, wet wallop to the sense. Dark clouds gather on the horizon of your glass. A high-pressure system of pungent hops collides with a stationary front of barley, oats, wheat, and rye. The froecast: a monsoon of flavor with surges of roasty malt, microbursts of fruity notes, and a chance of golfball-sized hail. The extended outlook calls for unseasonably pleasant enjoyment.”

I tried it about a year ago now, and the cedar had faded a good amount. It was still there, but not near like it was when fresh. I have 1 bottle left that I randomly picked up in Iowa somewhere. Guess it would be good to try again, or to send your way if you want? Wasn't an expensive bottle, but the cellaring will cost ya  ......kidding

Last I heard, they didn't feel like it was "ready" yet. Postponed until further notice.

    Second.

I prefer the original recipe to the new one. The original was pretty harsh when fresh, but was amazing with some time on it. I still have a batch one kicking around somewhere.
