Bourbon Barrel Age your own Beer

    its too small, you'd want something that can hold at least 5 gallons. unless you are trying to only have a couple bottles with 'barrel" treatment. Since my brewing setup wont allow me to do a whole 50 gallon barrel, ive found a some 5 gallons that will work perfect and they aren't that expensive for their size.

    Woodinville also sells 8 gallons bourbon and rye barrels. I have the bourbon model and friends of mine have the rye one, they're both awesome.

    Seems to me there would be too much surface space in that small barrel, or it would add the oak flavor very fast (not really aging in the barrel). Also, not sure if it is worth it for almost 6 bottles of beer.

    Since the surface area ratio would be so high, could you use that to make a blend?

    I like the way you're thinking with that one. It also answers the lack of beer question as well.
