Unfortunately, by those standards almost all BA beers are over priced. hell BA Rasputin is 4-5 times the price per ounce of regular old Rasputin. But really on a per ounce basis BA mouflan is no more over priced then most BA beers. 12 ounce bottles from Avery and lost Abbey are significantly more expensive, and most 22 oz BA bombers come in around $20+, and to be honest most are not nearly as good as BA mouflan. To me it's definitely worth the price tag, though I wouldn't go purchasing more then a few bottles, it's not the type of beer a normal person would go buying a case of.

I got a 4 pack but I wasn't willing to buy more. I imagine the price is probably why they still have some left.

I also drove there from Maryland and only picked up a 4 pack. Would have purchased more if cheaper. But I have always loved their barrel beers! I miss the old releases at the brewery.

Okay since I took the time to bitch about the price... I opened my bottle tonight and it's only fair for me to come back and say this is really fuckin' good. This is one of those rare occasions when a beer I've been looking forward to for a long time turned out EXACTLY how I hoped it would. Glad I got try this one.

People will pay $10 for a bottle of 120 min IPA, this is worth the $12 price tag.

I think less hype, and more of what the market will bear. I'm sure Troegs looks around at the prices other breweries charge for similar beers. If they sold it cheaper, it would have sold out in a couple days, as some people would have bought whole cases. It will still sell out, just take longer, and Troegs probably draws more people to the brewery, who might buy other beers instead. I picked up some other beer when I was there, since I was only buying a couple of bottles.

Unfortunately I think the higher price points for special release beer are here to stay. When I was there on Saturday, the brewery General Store was full of what I would assume were "casual" beer drinkers who probably stopped at the brewery when visiting Hershey for something else - couples wondering around and reading labels of the beers for sale. And I saw a few add a bottle of the BA Mouflan to their other 6 packs they were carrying to purchase. So if even if non-beer nerds are willing to drop the $12 on a bottle to try it, they haven't overshot the "supply and demand" pricing.

I just spent $20 for a 12oz bottle of Avery Uncle Jacob's Barrel Aged stout....makes $12 for 375mL seem like a great deal....

Any news if this is still around? I'd imagine it's gone by now.

Making beer calls at work might not go over well with some...but I'll give it a try later.

Ah - you have that rare job where monitoring and posting on a beer forum during work hours is OK, but making a phone call to a brewery is crossing the line.
