I just worked out a trade that involved Capt Lawrence Barrel Select Black and a Southampton Uberliner for both the new BA Hi-Fi and regular Hi-Fi.

I'd say this was more than fair.

i did an in-person in chicago for this years BA HiFi. i swapped a Rosso batch 3. original plan was to swap for 2 bottles, but when the allocation dropped, we went with just one. had it on sunday night with the last batch and the last batch of regular HiFi. i dug the fresh BA HiFi more, it was sweeter, but many others dug the older one better and plenty dug regular Hi Fi the most. all of them were great though.

i had heard that regular HiFi wasn't released this year, is that not true?

hmmm...so brewery only releases/low bottle count beers I assume would be the best bait; maybe some sours (cantillon). Thanks for the feedback - there is less of this stuff than I thought.

To quote a friend, and I agree, last year's BA Hi Fi was "lightning in a bottle." This years is much hotter and much too low on carbonation. It's not that it isn't a solid beer, but last year's batch was amazing. This does have some age potential though.

Yes, no regular HiFi was released this year.

Has anyone tried this year's batch out of the bottle and also had it on tap at the release? I know Flossmoor said they basically kegged the worst portion of the batch that didn't settle-out, and they bottled the rest. I'm just curious about the difference in taste, appearance, etc. Thanks!

I enjoyed what they tapped, although I would agree that it was a bit hot. Dunno about you guys but I'm not going to opening the bottles for at least another 6 months or so. Should be mellowed out a bit then.

The beer on-tap was insanely cloudy and a good bit more boozy. Flavors were muddled together/weaker. I thought the bottled version was much better.

What month does this usually come out?

It won't come out again unless Bryan Shimkos decides to brew it as his new brewery.

Nick Barron, the new head brewer at Flossmoor Station, said he wouldn't be rebrewing this one (which is why this last release only had the bourbon barrel aged version which was brewed under Shimkos and had been aging in barrels since he left).

    Cheers!

It's rumored they won't be releasing it next year. If anyone could confirm or deny this that would be great

    Edit: nvm thanks gonzoillini

Does he have a brewery yet? If so what's it called?

Tap = Cloudy, boozy, messy, astringent. Bottle = Really, none of those. I didnt have it the year prior, so i cant compare, but out of the bottle it was damn good, rich in distinct flavor, tasty, complex.

Ok perhaps I was mistaken. I could swear that I heard that information a few weeks back, but looking around the interwebs I can't find anything to back up that claim.

Anyone have any source for my (possible mis) information?

    Cheers!

This is the new brewery project that Bryan was working on. As his Kickstarter didn't reach its funding goal I'm not sure where this project stand currently.

    I just traded 2 x Kentucky Dark Star (Fremont) for 1 x BA Hi-Fi Rye + 1 x Apocalypse Cow.

    Both parties were happy.
