Are there any good bottled bourbon barrel pumpkin ales other than Uinta Oak Jacked and Heavy Seas Greater Pumpkin? Seems like something we should see more of given how well the flavors meld. I'm still not in the mood for pumpkin ales when it's 90 degrees out but seeing the pumpkin displays yesterday made me think of this.

I believe that Southern Tier might release a barrel aged version of Pumking. Not sure what type of barrel though. I know they had a limited supply of tap only last year, and I seem to remember them saying that they would bottle it this year.

This would probably be the best thing ever.

I generally don't care for Pumpkin beer, but adding a BA brew would be interesting, I'd buy.

I had some of the Oak Aged Pumking last year, but I believe it was just plain oak staves, not bourbon barrels.

Rumpkin is on my top wants list.
Yes I realize it's rum barrels.
Sounds like I could die after it, sounds like a match made in heaven.

I tried the Oak Aged Pumking(no bourbon) last year and you can tell by my face that I enjoyed it a lot.:grinning:

    Cheers

Avery makes a good one. I forget what it's called at the moment. Rumpkin?

Come to the Cambridge Brewing Co. Halloween party. I'm sure they'll have a lot of them.

You're right, it was oak. Here is the original article I read about the release. They mentioned that they MIGHT bottle it this year, but nothing more definitive than that. Anyonse seen updates?

From the reviews I read, I think I'd like regular Pumking better.

I didn't think it was that great. IIRC, it was sweeter and a little more graham crackery. But honestly I didn't think Pumking was that great in general last year. Too much gingerbread taste. The 2010 version had a lot more cinnamon and marshmallow, and it was more pumpkin pie-like.

Rumpkin was a big, boozy, mess of a beer. (IMO)

Beer Pulse just said that Hoppin Frog got label approval for BA Frog's Hollow.

Huh?! Too each their own I guess, but I loved it, even fresh. Wish I had a bottle in the cellar because I bet it ages like a boss!

I completely agree. It's also my favorite beer

Like previously stated it's Gosling rum barrels, but Rumpkin is out of this world. You'll either love it or hate it, as it's a huge in-your-face slap of pumpkin and rum.

Warning: After drinking Rumpkin, you wont be fully satisfied until drinking another Rumpkin.

Rumpkin sounds like it may be difficult to obtain. I'm not much of a trader. I do remember seeing it on draft once or twice, though. Hoppin Frog I can probably get but it's gonna cost me. Does Williamsburg Alewerks make one? Their BB Porter is so darn cheap. Hopefully Weyerbacher can whip some up next year when their expansion is complete.
