Local distilleries would be the first place I'd check. Shipping can get really expensive. Call around and see if someone local can help you out. Then check and see if some of the bigger guys are worth $150+ shipping is worth it.

I have been down this road... almost. Our local distilleries all use a barrel broker for their used barrels, and eventually I figured out the ones online were my most easily obtainable and affordable option. Then I gave up as I didn't want to wait, and am still trying to find a rum barrel instead.

I live in KY, right around the corner from bourbon distilleries and every time I have asked about buying a barrel, they say that they are already sold to in bulk to scotch distilleries. I think you best bet is to get really lucky with one of the small distilleries or find one online.
