One, it's brewed by Goose Island. InBev is the parent company and again, you only mention them to get a rise and obviously hijack the thread. Your post has absolutely nothing to do with the topic being discussed here. You are just being a troll.

Inbev owns breweries around the world, including Seattle, Wa, Bend, OR, and Chicago, IL.

I love Ommegang beers, but I don't lie to myself about them still being an American brewery. They are owned by Duvel. Again, the whole point of my post was that I'm amazed, in this day and age, with all the great beer being brewed everywhere, that people still get excited enough for this one beer to walk away from a family holiday to stand in line for a few bottles. I just do not understand. But, as I've been saying all along, strokes for folks. Enjoy sidewalks in November.

I fail to understand how this is relevent to the point I was trying to make. or How you conciously think the AB brews BCBS but agree to disagree I guess. You have derailed the initial conversation long enough.

I had herd that it was only a few barrels of maple for festivals but that could always be a red herring. Personally im hoping for anything but maple althouhg im sure it would be excellent.

Would love to see maple, or coconut. I've just had my first bottle of regular BCBS (2014) a few days ago and, between that and KBS, I'm starting to understand what all the BBA stout fuss is about.

Not sure if they would approach a spiced/mole version, but that would be on my short list as well.

Right, why else would they do that?

After seeing the barrels, and through some research based on the dates, a few friends and I made a reasonable guess that the barrels used for Rare batch 2 are actually the PHC #2 (27yr) barrels that would've been emptied in 2008 or so. The GI rep said they were empty for about 4 years when GI acquired them, and it would line up pretty perfectly with PHC #2 coming out in 2008. Obviously not confirmed, but between a few people there was way too much research done on a long car ride one day and I'm confident enough to say I think that's the most likely barrel source. At least one of the barrels, anyway.

I would think that batch of Rare should be released this year. Went into barrels September 2013, so a November 2015 release sounds right on the money.

No info on this years' variants, other than the one they were thinking of going with as of April/May had 'like 11 different things in it'. Sorry.

I think there were only something like 100 barrels of PHC made so I wonder how many empty ones would've even been available. Do they typically use 4-year old barrels, or do they usually use barrels that were more freshly dumped? I guess for a 27 barrel, the angel's share is really high so makes sense?

Of course this could be wrong but I thought they said they only had a few barrels of it...so probably for events/festivals

    12-16 barrels? I think...not positive.

From what I understand, the rare is going to be something "Mexican" inspired...perhaps a mole or anejo. I spoke to one of the people from GI that had tasted it. She wouldn't divulge exactly what it was, but that was what she was hinting at.

OK, i get it. Troll is trolling.

There's some decent stuff out here readily accessible (Black Xantus, Big Bad Baptist, etc), but doesn't hit that magic spot for me personally.

Probably some Fremont brews for you that might get in the ballpark.

Not that the troll actually cares.

I'll repeat what I said several times. I don't add hype to beers. I don't want see folks rolling into releases with hand trucks. If that's the scene you're into, cool. But why should I drive hyperbole that will only serve to make my own beer habit more difficult? Look at the responses in this thread from folks who used to be able to walk into their local store and grab a case of BCS to let them through the year. Now, they're faced with a low bottle limit. We've only got ourselves to blame.

Your probably right. Random beertunes guy post is gonna cause a swarm of people over to Fremont if he says he likes Kentucky Dark Star...

KDS is OK, of Fremonts stuff I prefer B-Bomb. The point, again, is I wonder why we, collectively, do so much to make things harder on ourselves. Why contribute to that, unless one thinks one can gain something from it?

I mean I get your point, but I think you are overestimating the impact of a single suggestive post buried in the series of tubes that comprise the internet. Afterall, this is an advocacy site, no?

I can shout that I think Bells Expedition Stout is a world class beer til I'm blue in the face but just because I typed that in this post isn't going to drive up its demand and appeal. Nope, that non-BA goodness is gonna be staring me in the face at my local shop.
