But we can still speculate on price and allocation limits!

Last year was peak excitement for me. Vanilla Rye was a *huge* want for me and even though I didn't expect to get my hands on it, Prop with coconut and cassia bark sounded freaking amazing.

This year, said excitement is tempered a bit. The Rye variant sounds like a complete wild card (candided cherries, sour cherries and salt? okay) and I'm not sure what to think about maple + chiles. Of course Rare will be on my list, but I have no idea what to expect for distribution in Michigan. From what I can tell, variants have been mostly nonexistent in the past.

Im jsut gonna move our convo here lol. I agree its not perfect for sigle person consumption but doable over an evening. Im more inclined to dig the two person split though. My GF and I camp every year for BCBS allocations so that is the one beer we dont take to bottle shares. So with that said over all personally I dig the size after thinking about it more.

I am actually stoaked that they added a pepper to the maple. Im not crazy anout maple syrup so im hoping a smoky pepper tempers the sweetness.

Read that there will be a label on the back of the bottle as well, for those of you concerned about counterfeits becoming an issue

All these variants begin to feel like someone emptying what's remaining in his fridge in a blender. Sea salt, peppers, pecans... It's getting quite funny at this point. Can't wait for the guava/cheddar/turnip/fudge variant aged in egg-shaped cedar barrels soaked in peach schnapps, available in 2022....

I think a smoky pepper would have been awesome--like maybe a chipotle. But I don't think that guajillo chiles are very smoky.

Ill give you that Rye does sound a bit absurd but prop is completely within reason. Pecans, maple, chillies are not even close to being outside the realm of what other breweries make. Maple has been done, nuts have been done, and chillies have certainly been done. I'd love to try the GI version.

And obviously the exciting part of these threads is finding out what the variants will be. That said, Im always just as excited to get my hands on some regular. What a great beer. I actually don't really mind getting a few more ounces out of a bottle either.

Thats what someone else mentioned earlier. That they are not all that hot from everything the articles were saying.

Don't mind variants going to the 500ml bottles, but couldn't they have at least left regular in 12oz 4 packs?

I would be interested to see the total barrels from last year to this year. I hate math, so I'm not gonna do it, but the new format gets me thinking about allocations

If a store previously allotted a 4-pk of each of the reg, coffee, and BW, and a bomber of each variant, What will the new allocations look like?

I would suspect a 16.9 of Prop, Rye, and Rare, but what about the former 12 oz? 2 of each? 3 of the regular?

4k to 4.5k barrels this year. I would think 2-3 reg 1-2 coffe and bw and 1 of everything else.

I wonder what the bottle count will be for Rare. I know it is getting natl distro but I cant imagine that there were a whole lot of 32 year old bourbon barrels just laying around.

    There weren't.

Rare had just over 11,000 bottles the first time around and sat around for months after the initial wave. I don't see that happening this year.
