That barrel is from the Bernheim distillery in Louisville. It now owned by Heaven Hill.

Have a very good feeling Rare will be making a triumphant return very soon. I was in the GI Barrel House a week or so ago and there were barrels of Rare all over the place.

This will be the rarest release to date:

I heard they have a variant aged in Donkey Kong Barrels. :stuck_out_tongue:

Im going to blow my load. If a sherry barrel or maple came out, I would be so pumped; on top of Rare re-release. Chicago here I come!

I don't care what size bottle it comes in as long as it costs the same /oz. I fear that won't be the case with this dumb new bottle. Why do we need some fancy proprietary bottle? They could sell that crap in a box for all I care. This smells like AB Inbev to me. Put it in a fancy package and jack up the $/oz. We shall see.

From what I've heard there's only a few barrels of maple, not nearly enough to bottle and distro. If anything they are a test batch that will be kegged or released as part of the Fulton and Wood series. I could be wrong, and in this scenario I certainly hope I'm wrong and this actually gets bottled and distro'd.

I wouldn't put it past them.

Retailers already jack up prices where I'm at due to the limited availability. Not all, but some. Highest I saw was $40/4 pack for 2014 BCBS. This year we saw KBS jacked up to $12.99 a bottle in MI for Christ sake, and those places still sold out in a day or two. I expect the same thing to happen to BCBS this year, with the exception that more of the profit goes into AB's pocket with a new bottle format.

Hell, I would actually be in favor of paying more if they did a ticketed release at GI and I could be assured of at least a 12 pack, plus one variant.

I don't like fruited stouts so i'd be happy with anything but that, lots of great suggestions here. Would love something With cinnamon and/or oatmeal, something with peanut butter and chocolate might be cool too, since i've never had a peanut butter beer.

Cinnamon was in the Prop variant for 2014.

Is that bottle confirmed? I would be so pissed. I like the uniformity of the last two years.

I haven't seen a confirmation of that bottle either. I also checked COLA registry a couple months back and didn't see it, but I may have missed it. It's also way early...

I tried BCBS recently. Got a growler full at Cable Beverage. Was extremely disappointed. So I thought maybe the Growler wasn't sealed well. I went un prepared and had to buy a Growler there. Anyway, I went back with a known good Growler, kept it cold for the ride home and drank it that night. No better. Wasn't horrible but the biggest disappointment of a hyped beer I've experienced. I love this style beer and have had many - many better brews with no hype, MUCH cheaper and easy to get. Its the only Bourbon county I've had so my experience is limited - and being a glutton for punishment I will try them again when they are released. Hopefully GI redeems themselves.

Personally I don't care about the bottle format or the variants - I just want them to jack the hell out of the price and put a stop to the ridiculous lines, mules, etc... Somewhere around $1/oz for the regular and $2/oz for the variants should slow things down nicely.

Avery, Bruery, FFF, FiftyFifty - all of them price in the $1.30-2 for their barrel aged special beers. Why shouldn't GI? It really gives me the shits when people blame AB Inbev for price increases when there are other smaller brewers that people go bat shit over who have been pricing high for years...

BCBS has been bargain priced compared to similar beers for years - I hope the price is more in line with the market; might actually see it on a shelf for more than 30 seconds...

Given the quantity of bcbs they produce, I highly doubt that would be a good business model.

They can increase prices, sure, but not to that level.
