Not a fan of the Spiegelau. I have the one from last year, and it's very cheap thin glass IMO. Snapped one at the stem while hand washing it. Thick glass > thin glass
They're definitely fragile, but I prefer drinking from very thin glass over thick so the Spiegelau is great for me. That being said, Casey's new Oak Theory glass is the same snifter and I drink a lot more Casey than BCBS so I am not purchasing one.
Ordered yesterday regardless of the picture, but after seeing this thread decided to revisit. Looks like they've updated the picture since yesterday afternoon to show what appears to be the "actual" Spiegelau glass (i.e. branded version of the "Barrel Aged Beer" glass shown on the Spiegelau site). Otherwise same pricing and description, but definitely the thinner glass and includes a "Goose Island Barrel House" logo on the reverse. I like it. Almost all of my non-branded glassware (wine and beer) is Spiegelau and I'm happy with them, though there is a certain delicateness to their craft beer series. My only breakage to date has resulted from negligence!
So I ordered a 2016 glass on Black Friday and got it delivered yesterday. Its the exact same glass from last year, and definitely NOT what was shown on the website that day. Anyone actually get a "new" glass? Going to send a note to customer service.
From Kotis Design: "I apologize for the inconvenience, it appears that there was a change made during the production of the glasses and we were not made aware of it. We have corrected the picture and the description and I can send you a prepaid shipping label to return the glass for a full refund if you would like. Unfortunately we are not going to be able to send the original glass pictured because we do not have any of those in stock. Please let me know if you would like the shipping label and the refund and I will get that started once I hear back from you. I appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter."
Ordered a 2016 and 2015 glass on Black Friday. 2016 glass arrived with a chip on the rim and 2015 glass not sent with order, "backordered." Not happy.
So the 2015 and 2016 glass are the same? I ordered both but got a note from customer service that the 2015's were oversold and they could replace with a 2016 or refund the 2015. Sounds like they had a crazy black friday.
Yes, '15 and '16 are the same- thin Spiegelau. I'm returning it because I already have it. Pretty bummed/pissed
Ordered the new glass because it's the same as the Rare day glass and I really liked that one and then I was delivered the thin Spiegelau version. I wrote GI and got the same response but demanded the glass that was for sale and then was told that they will be in touch shortly.
