2013 prop was good. Glad I could have a couple pours. Wouldn’t go berserk trying to get it again.

Still sad @croush didn't smuggle me out some on Sunday.

Templeton Rye had an amazing nose. Syrup and dark fruit preserves. Palate was unbalanced - very barrel forward. I love bourbon, and to a lesser extent rye. But the barrel overtook the roasty flavors, and I didn’t get much body. It wasn’t bad, by any stretch. I would have loved some coffee or something else in there to fight the rye.

I hear vanilla works well. Unfortunately I don't live in Chicago, so I can only tell you what I hear. Hear it's big though.

Would have liked it if it was vanilla and hazy.

Honestly, I may have enjoyed BCS ‘13 the most. I know that makes me the worst.

Favorite smelling note on Prop 13 from my friend: “clearly fenugreek.”

Really enjoyed reading your posts. Thanks so much.

I have yet to have a variant that I like more than the base, but hoping one of the old variants will fix that some day. Maybe even some day soon.

(On a slightly whiney note, I'll be god damned if a 2014 or earlier BCBCS isn't harder to come by than Much larger bottles.)

I still have some ‘13 and ‘14 BCS Coffee, and it’s much better fresh. Holding it is dumb.

Everyone I know says it is the only coffee stout that gets better with age. At least, after a couple years.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of posts like yours though. I do wonder.

If you love green peppers than yes, it gets better with age.

It’s still good, don’t get me wrong, but the coffee just fades.

BCBS Coffee/Green Pepper flavor is the Laurel vs Yanny of the beer world...

I will say yesterday was pretty good at the Fulton tap room. A flight of regular 17, double barrel , Templeton rye, and '15 rare on tap. My only regret was not ordering a King Henry bottle earlier and they sold out right before I tried to get one.

How were the prices for on site bottles?

Anywhere from 30-100. So definitely not the cheapest place to drink, but it was all very good.

I drank a 17 coffee recently. Bottled in summer 17 so almost a year old already.

Not great and it probably isn't getting any better. I remember thinking while I drank it that I have made better with regular BCBS and fresh cold brew coffee.

I drank one last weekend, same thoughts on it.

Thanks for that assessment. I’ll make a point to crack one sometime next week to see for myself.

On the other hand, I’m enjoying a Cafe Deth right now. Not as roasty as it was fresh, but coffee is still very present. Overall the beer has smoothed out quite a bit, lots of chocolate, oaky flavor, very enjoyable. I’ll probably save a couple cans for awhile longer.

You are dead on with this. I split a 2012 coffee bomber last summer with a buddy and it was freaking outstanding. Had a 2017 last weekend and loved it. And I hate green pepper so if it was there I'd be drain pouring.
