You could always search for the Fobab threads in the Great Lakes Forums- 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, etc. to find out about people's experiences. There will be 30+ pages telling what people had, what worked and didn't and how to clothes pin your nose closed to avoid excess gas....

It's the best beer festival I've been to and it's not really close

The FOBAB site quoting September ticket sales and November event dates is all pertaining to 2016, right? I'm mainly assuming this because 9/16 is a Saturday, not a Friday. Should we expect the site to be updated soon?

Best bet to try the BCBS stuff is the GI Clybourn event on Black Friday as people mentioned. It's pricey, but no lines, guaranteed seat, they throw in a take home bottle of something good (usually prop), a BCBS glass. This is the best way to enjoy BCBS short of having a tasting in your home. You don't feel the pressure to have to get something before it runs out, you have a seat and can sample and savor....damn, if I didn't have a problem with being passed out by 2pm, I should probably sign up for this again.

Prop Day is either a mess or a great festival depending on where in line you fall and how much you enjoy crowds. It isn't for the faint of heart as you will have to force your way through a line for the one tap hunger game style (and by line I don't mean and orderly straight line, I mean the humanitarian aid relief line from Somalia where the one guy with a box of rice is surrounded 60 deep in a 360 circle). Though free, you pay for it with a premium on the packaged beer (Forget the prices, but they were charging like $25-30 more for Rare at this event than they were at Binny's a few days later.....

Don't bet on this option, it sells out in seconds. And who knows if they are having it after the remodel.

Fobab is amazing. I went back for the Utopias with Cherries several times - felt kind of guilty but there was never a line for it as opposed to the latest ZOMG selections that had long lines and kicked quickly.

Glad you enjoyed it. I dumped mine out, it was like drinking the juice out of marachino cherry jar.

Fobab is awesome, but it was too crowded last year. I hope they make some updates this year.

I think the main issue with the crowd was that they added like 40 more breweries, which meant more tables and less space to stand around. They didn't sell any more tix this year.

Yep. You're right. There was no place to stand around due to more breweries. That back row by the stouts was downright terrible.

So this is a bit of selfish post, but I figured this thread might reach the (most) people that are most knowledgable about Bourbon County glasswear.

I was wondering if anyone has ever come across either of these. I'm looking for them for a special event, and I'm not really sure how rare they are - I just know that I cannot obviously find them on Ebay etc.

    2010 BCBS Mini Nonic

Both of these glasses are sought after. It would take far to much $ or beer to acquire either than they are worth. There is an entire subsection of the CB world where glasses are traded.

That is my fear. I would be willing to go to quite extensive lengths to get them, though. This event is one of only a handful of events that define someone's life. So, in this case, I am quite willing to go to great lengths to acquire one - especially the mini nonic.

Goose uses that mini nonic at a lot of other events. Not labeled with Bourbon County, but it's the same glass with just a Goose Island logo.

I've got like 4 of them on my taster glass shelf.

Not sure if that'd do for you, but they'd be a lot easier to source.

I have a feeling some of us may have different views on events that define someone's life. I'm extremely interested in knowing what this event is as well.
