Look, BCBS season is an awesome time of the year and it’s an OG in BA stouts. But this year’s lineup is bizarre and dumbed down.
Midnight Orange and Bramble are just plain nasty. Without the BCBS label those beers would get roasted. The Vanilla lacks any nuance. It’s just a vanilla punch in the face. The same can be said with Prop and chocolate.

Before tasting I was least excited by Wheatwhine and Coffee Barleywine. But I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed them. That being said none of the beers made me want to obtaining a bottle. Glass on draft is enough. Even if quantities were widely available I wouldn’t bother with at least half this lineup.

 

Appreciate this analysis. when it comes down to it I could take or leave adjuncts if the base beer is well made. Might skip long lines and just hit the local jewel at 8 then head to costco and maybe score 1 variant

 

So dumb, how is the staff this incompetent. The line is already curled around the building and off Binnys property. Which means they can’t control it. Which means all rules about no tents or camping is out the window.

Not sure if this is a troll. I was under the impression that the line would be a serpentine pattern in the parking lot.

 

They could just not give wristbands to people who don’t follow the rules or something. I wonder if they’ll make the line go the other way or something. Is staff currently on site?

 

Looked like about 20 people loitering around (cooking with grills, one guy had a crockpot. So much for no camping...) but about 100 chairs.

 

From a video I’ve seen, it’s wrapping counterclockwise around the building like last year.

 

At 1am, it’s gonna be too late.

The good news is from these current posts it sounds like I don't have to worry about even entertaining the idea of going to Chicago or checking this thread later.

 

Yes, I was under the impression that it would be a TSA like line with barriers that snaked through the lot. Because that’s the correct solution. But once again Binnys staff lets us down.

 

The staff needed to be out there BEFORE the first person lined up. If they can’t handle people lining up 24 hours early, stop incentivizing them.

 

What time does Binny’s close today. Maybe they haven’t even set it up yet?

 

I saw a pic on Facebook of staff setting up the barriers, but yeah.. the line was already wrapped around before they started.

Hopefully they force everyone to pack up and move into the barriers and hand out wristbands as they do. Only way to control it.

 

They closed at 4. So we're an hour and a half in, either this is it or they are setting up and severally underestimated beer nerds.

 

I tweeted that it sounds like Binny’s is already a clusterfuck and Binny’s immediately tweeted at me that it won’t be.

 

It is. And it’s their own fault. This is the biggest retail beer release in the world and they think they’re prepared because they’ve got a half dozen porta potties.
