Now you're making me want to try it. ISO: your grandmas pie.

I think mom & pop stores are the way to go.

Today I got 6 Vanillas, 4 Brambles, 4 Midnight Orange & 1 Wheatwine just by popping into places during the day (I had other errands to run).

I could have bought more of every one...only personal preference and a finite amount of $$ stopped me.

Granted, none of these places had Prop or Reserve left, but I didn't start looking until about 1pm.

From my perspective, there seems to be a lot of varients to go around.

Maybe I'm crazy but, does an orange flavored stout even sound good as a concept? Or did they make it just so they could sell something extra for $20?

I'm on the verge of saying for me Midnight Orange was the best of the year. Draft was good. But out of a bottle...it's more barrel forward with some more char and a little more heat. For something I thought was not going to work at all, it's surprisingly tasty. Ya gotta like chocolate covered orange stuff, especially the classic old world stuff, but it really works for me

2018: the year the variants exploded (except Reserve)

I was able to grab so much today that I’m not sure I’ll go to some other releases this week. Just wish there was a bit more Reserve to go around.

Great hanging with many of you like-minded morons at a ridiculous time this morning.

Anyone know how the Beer Temple release went today? Wondered if they had Reserve, and if they had a lot of other variants similar to other stores.

Cheers to Goose Island. Love it or hate it, they've turned Black Friday into an incredible beer drinking day and tradition. Always a blast.

After trying everything but reserve on tap today I’d have to say I’m pretty happy I didnt waste the time and money on bottled variants. Aside from regular which is always great prop was the only one I’d pick up if i were to see it sitting on the shelf, maybe bramble depending on price. Vanilla was the biggest letdown. I think I could dump some vanilla extract in a glass of regular and get the same thing.

Combine vanilla and orange for a dreamsicle? Bramble and vanilla for berries and cream?

I’m really surprised at how many people don’t like Bramble. I’m not big into fruited stouts, but I think it’s pretty tasty.

Thanks a bunch guys! Friend of mine who is in the area had mostly couch related plans today, but told me he really wanted to find a few Wheat Wine. Still had WW and Midnight as of 8:20pm. He said they had a few left still.

EDIT: on the back half of a WW. Really great. Have to agree with the pineapple and caramel notes. I personally like that is has a heavy, almost spicey barrel presence. Less viscous and a little crisper on the finish than typical BCS stuff, which works well. This is definitely a winner for me.

I heard a Vanilla-Prop-Orange combo was awesome. Sounds like it could work.

Yeah, I got a couple of each. Some experimentation may be in order.

Looking forward to trying vanilla and orange, I’ve rarely seen such disgust and praise distributed so evenly

    It's technically chocolate orange flavored.

Seems like all the variants are basically love them or hate them this year.
