Totally understand the flack. Not something I was worried about or am worried about now. If I was worried about it, I would have just lied about the number of bottles we got at LP. As for bragging, that's the last thing I was doing, and had I not been asked specifically how I got more bottles at LP, by multiple people, no one would have any idea about her going back through the line. Again, could have just lied, but I was transparent, since my entire op was trying to help people for next year, to see what wait times, locations, and allotments they may see.

Again, I'm not mad or even in disagreement with the hate I've caught for her going back through, I get it. I will say though "taking an allotment from someone else waiting in line or not able to get there as early" is a joke when you're talking about LP, where people were lining up days ahead of time (and do every year) and 1k people got full allotments of $300 worth of beer. The one person she took an allotment from was someone who had zero intention of going to LP for bottles, but found out that spots were crazily, still available an hour after open. I don't feel bad that one guy who rolled outa bed at 8 and showed up in a hoody and sweats, didn't get a full allotment at an event everyone thought would have been sold out in the middle of the night.

The shitlord finish is quite funny though. Seeing as you're clearly someone near Chicago (based on your list of releases), you had every ability to get all the variants you wanted, on top of the other great beers you just listed, that I'll never have a chance at. I mean I'm sure you're aware I'd literally have to pay $40/can to even taste VSOJ. For us on the other hand, we don't have anything comparable throughout the year around us and we've struck out on retail variants for 3 straight years, chasing them around the city, but not being able to get there till Friday morning when they're all bought up already. Then we spend the the rest of the year over-paying people from Chicago by a factor of 10x just to have the chance to try any of the variants. So outside the fact we got an extra allotment at LP, no I definitely will not feel bad that for the first time, we'll be able to drink these variants and share them with our friends, without having to trade half the cellar or over-pay out the ass, so the actual shitlords can profit.

Great, you've inspired Prop 2019- BCBS with pickle brine...

Not all of that was directed towards you, specifically, but just generalizing towards people like that, overall. If I wanted to direct it all at you, I would have quoted you specifically.

This was more a "PSA" from my point of view and opinion about double-dipping and things like that.

Not gonna go back and touch all the stuff you commented on, but can touch on the last paragraph some.

Yes, I'm near Chicago. And had the ability to get the variants I wanted, as well as other great beers. You do have a chance at them, though. The same chance I have. You just have to put in the time, take the time off work, and wait in the lines like I do. I know plenty of people who do that. The only thing I take issue with is the double-dipping at LP, where these are basically special allotments (in relation to all the other ones around the city when it comes to the limits and vintage purchases available) and you abused that. Of course you'll catch some heat on here for that. I don't care that you came here from out of town to enjoy the release, purchase as much of the beer as you could, and go back home. Not at all.

I know you talked about helping people for next year, which is fine, but your actions actually will hurt things. Now people will get there to line up even earlier due to FOMO because of people that double-dip, like your wife did.

I mean... you could have gotten bottles all over the city.(and did, obviously), yet you double-dipped on a "specialty" allotment from LP, one which had larger limits and more/better vintage choices, which is kinda shitty, IMO, considering you were planning on hitting up stores all over the city to find more, anyways.

Sorry to get us back on track but there is an image going around that says only Lincoln Park, Edgewater, and Lakeview Whole Foods are going to have BCBS on Friday. Can anyone verify this is legit? It looks a little too slick (literally...its laminated).

But a second ticket was obtained prior to going fully through the line the first time. The party in question had not purchased their allotment yet.

The day we were there 4 years ago. There were no limits on Saisons and you could buy ten growlers. I'm probably including alchemist and lawson cans cant remember.

Personally, I don't have a huge problem with going through twice. I *do* have a problem with getting a second ticket before you've even gone through the line once though.

And yes, I wish they would've enforced the rules they said they would, but it was exponentially better than last year.

Thinking back we bought 5 or 6 cases of Saisons, and 10 Growlers.

    So somewhere between $880-$1000.

With some variants sitting still, will that always mysterious "second drop" be happening? I hope Woodman's in Carpentersville gets more cause that place got screwed on variants...felt bad for all those people that waited forever just basically for regular

I haven't seen the image but I'm going to say it's legit. I have an extremely reliable source that told me there was a massive screw up in ordering BCBS this year and only city locations will be getting any at all. Locations in the burbs will not even be getting regular.

I didn't go back and read the "rules" in detail, but I didn't recall anything like this being specifically called out either. I say kudos to the pregnant lady for her creativity and guts.

IIRC, last year's second drop only ended up being regular (perhaps BW as well). I know in 2016 there was a big 2nd drop with all variants, and in 2015 there was a good 2nd drop (I think everything except Prop came in that one).

Yeah, from what I remember, the 2nd drop last year was 99% regular, with a few places getting either a case or two of barleywine, or a case of Northwoods. Majority was regular, though. I remember right before Christmas there were stacks of cases of regular at my local Binny's just sitting out on the floor from that drop. Lots and lots of regular in that 2nd drop.

You're right, there was definitely Northwoods. I remember passing on more of it since I already had a few bottles.

Exactly. Seems like getting back in line has always been allowed at LP when possible and seemed to be allowed and encouraged everywhere I went in Chicago. Getting a second ticket before getting through the line the first time though is cutting.

As of last night, Jewel on Southport had cases of Coffee BW. $16.99 I believe.
