In all seriousness, I like these sorts of discussions, because even though someone is bound to get heated at some point, they keep things alive in the thread until the inevitable second drop, or Prop infection rumors, or whatever.

gotta get the shanty town out of the parking lot ASAP so the clean-up can actually begin. The more the zombie horde lingers the more the trash will re-appear.

Most of what has been discussed in this thread doesn't really bother me but the not picking up your trash part irks the hell out of me. At almost every major beer release where bottle sharing is allowed (or not) there is sooo muuuch trash. I've never been to LP but I can't even imagine what it looks like in the confined space of the city once everyone leaves. Seriously though just pick up the trash you accumulated and the problems solved BUT people suck and there will always be douchebags in the craft beer world. I've been to music festivals where people do a better job of cleaning up and half of them are on drugs

The liquor store manager said they shared their allotment with Buffalo Grove; whom from what I've heard according to a buddy got Prop and Reserve while Carpentersville got neither. I was one of the unlucky ones who showed up there to a surprising amount of folks in line, usually this place is a hidden gem, of course in the suburbs it really is too late at that point to change your plans if you don't have a hookup anywhere.

Didn't even bother getting back in line as I likely would have only scored more regular, which is still relatively easy to come by in the burbs.

Every time I see Des Plaines Jewel I get overly excited only to realize people are referencing a street.

Wheatwine is the one variant I'd love to load up on, not sure I can make it down that way until the weekend, so if somebody knows of a spot selling it under $20, let me know.

Those loopers really are doing the Lord's work, aren't they? I'll say a prayer tonight to St. Lawrence the Looper, the patron saint of beer hoarding.

Honestly, I'm going to start robbing people that get allotments, so as to save them the hassle of taking home the beer, and the strain of all those calories being added to their diet.

Maybe someone in this forum that takes the North Central Metra downtown to work can help you. I'm on the UP West Line otherwise I would've gladly hooked you up.

Oh, right. Because they rang up 1,000 allotments in zero minutes.:rolling_eyes:

There was actually a guy who came to Des Plaines Binnys at open last year to pick up some bud and was like WTF...do I have to wait in this line? What is it even for? Pretty sure he was shuffled to the front so he could GTFO, but remember finding the look on his face pretty funny.

Headed down to LP Binnys in 2015 after opening. Was #1005 or so and got the full allotment and two 2014 BCBS Vintages IIRC. People looped behind us (maybe 50) and there were a lot of bottles left when we walked in. Left after purchase so not sure how many triple dipped etc. but you are probably not far off in what you have heard.

So what happened? Why the huge decrease at LP this year? Too many got screwed last year?

I figured the Jewels might be packed this year, but pretty mild overall.

I could be wrong but pretty sure LP was open at 7 only for BC sales. IE not even for the folks in line other than grabbing your case and variant off of the table as you passed by. So nobody will be wondering in for other purposes. This helped the line tremendously, opening up all POS lanes and using registers instead of ipads. I was in the 650's last year and it took 2.5-3 hours to get checked out. I was in the 550's this year and out in little over an hour. Tremendous improvement and kudos to LP folks on this change. Opening earlier allowed this to happen, and yes most if not all of the 1000 should have been out of there by 9am for regular opening.

you can rationalize shitty actions of all types and flavors.

would you not consider looping/double dipping an act which is aimed at circumventing the basic principle of limited beer releases?

if you're of the mind that if something is not expressly forbidden, then it's all "part of the game yo", then best of luck to whatever comes your way eventually

Love seeing people trying to condone shitty behavior by dancing through hoops with stupid reasons why it's ok. It just tells me who to stay away from, and who to avoid helping out in any way in the future. I mean... shitty behavior is shitty behavior. No matter how you try and spin it.

Just got some clarification on suburban WF situation. I was told they will still be getting kegs just no bottles.

I think it's up to the place doing the release. If a place says it's not OK, then they want to hold the beer somewhat longer, and if you line loop you're circumventing their rules.

But if a place says it's OK to do, then they must prefer to sell out right away and it's OK. A lot of times the limit is just to make sure that everyone there at open gets something.

This starts to sound similar to the debate on kids in taprooms...

There's a tasting and raffle event at Go Grocer tomorrow evening. I've never been to an event there and kind of envision having to purchase an $18 meatless sandwich to enter the raffle, but I may go for the tasting.

Who's dancing, spinning or putting out stupid reasons? You're not the beer cops. I've looped one time at More (Cinnamon Bobka, which I was able to trade for a Double Rainbow) and several times at Bell's (to justify the five-hour toll-ridden round trip).

But it's a much more lawful practice than, I dunno, selling at secondary prices (which pretty much everyone but me does).

In short, we agree to disagree. Woot.
