I got no dog in this fight but I thoroughly enjoyed Noel's book and it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for BCBS one iota.

 

Josh is definitely not a critic for the Chicago Tribune and his reporting on the comings and goings of the Chicago beer scene are not written as a critic. 99% of the things he writes for the Trib are judgement free. Its his Twitter account and personal blog where things go off the rails.

 

So you didn't read his book and yet you're confident making judgement calls about the content of his book?

This is why Twitter is such a weird space. People will get in trouble for writing something there but have somewhat of a standard career. I guess welcome to the internet?

 

My original point was that you can wear multiple hats and i don't have to like all of them.

Josh Noel = good writer, and i will read his book later this month
Josh Noel = made accurate statements about history of Goose Island, including some unsavory things
Josh Noel = twists/misrepresents some facts to support a long-term narrative even if it's a totally unrelated to said narrative

All of these things can be true ... for some people, it'll turn them off of reading him ... for me, i can deal with it even though i wish he would stop with the occasional childish insult because it hurts his credibility

 

And then burn it for its anti-ABI bias!?!?!?

At first I thought you were joking, but apparently not.

Personally, having ‘grown-up’ in an area where heavy traffic environment was never present, one of my main motivations for moving to the suburbs from the city (where I first settled when I moved to Chicagoland area) was my inability to deal with the daily comute to and from work.

 

No big deal. Many brewmasters have brewed Bourbon County without issue (the only time there were issues were under Jared, though I definitely wouldn't assign blame to him) so no drop off should occur.

I would imagine as much noticeable difference at GI as if the brewmaster of Budweiser was replaced as at that level they are just overseeing the operation of the machine that is a beer company.
