Is it though? I bought into that comparison when they first announced it, but didn't someone say they use actual chocolate in Prop 2018? Cacao nibs of Big John are bland compared to a chocolate bar.

GI Taproom did a couple of giveaways last year and I walked out with a 2010 Sophie and 2012 Nightstalker. Nightstalker was pretty good for a non-BA beer (I gave it a 4.0), but certainly didn't blow me away. I'll admit big BA stouts are my jam, so YMMV.

I know this isn’t the brew pub thread, but all this Cthulhu talk has me wondering... will they do releases again or was that just a part of the old Clybourne. It’s been over a year since the new place opened right? Just curious if anyone knew.

 

They have said that there will be bottle releases in the future. They did one right after it opened back up, but that beer aged through the whole remodel. If I had to guess, maybe one will make an appearance around the holiday/toy drive time period.

 

I have a hard time believing they won't have a big Fobab stout offering that also pops up at Clybourn

 

I hope so. It’s been to long. Nuthulu at FOBAB was what got me hooked. I’d love to see a new big stout this year.

 

So the distributor for the west side of Detroit started getting bottles and draft. 24 sixth barrels of regular BC, 15 cases Bramble, 15 cases Vanilla, 105 cases of Regular. IDK if this is the whole allotment for our area.

 

I know Bramble and Vanilla aren't annual releases, but do you think that amount of regular is about the same, less or more than years past?

I had thought Vanilla was supposed to be super hard to get, so 15 cases seems like a good amount.

IIRC it seems like less than years past as far as bottles go, draft looks way down.

 

SE MI distro is notoriously shitty on lots of things, even beers brewed here in MI can be slim pickins. IIRC two cases of Northwoods hit distro here last year. That and BW were the only variants we got.

 

Yeah, that was kinda what I was thinking on variants, so the fact that you have 15 cases of Bramble & Vanilla seemed like a step up.

 

No Wheat Wine so far. In terms of variants, we are still in the hole compared to what came here in '15, and again it looks like regular is down so far compared to last year.

 

Gentlemen, get your ski masks ready. We got a job in Detroit.

I thought this wasn’t released until Black Friday? Does a distributor stock it this early?
