Bourbon County 2018

Yeah people mostly hated it at Fobab 16 and then the beer at Prop Day 16 had very little spice. I believe they made an adjustment to the beer that day so as not to have more bad buzz pre-Black Friday. I say that because Prop was the first drink of the day and it’s never resembled that flavor profile again. We never saw them pour them as they were just handed out in glasses

 

Fake news. Bottle I popped a few weeks ago was the same as it ever was. Stop storing your beers in your furnace room!

 

I had it a few weeks ago and it was great.

 

One’s palate/sensory is a fickle thing...sometimes your nose and tastebuds work, sometimes they have an off day.

Bottle variation is real though. I don’t worry too much about the reason something amazing isn’t just like last time, I just use it as an excuse to get another one to try.

 

Stored in (my Dad's) climate controlled wine cellar, FWIW.

 

Tell him to switch the setting from “Ecuadorian rain forest” or “sub-Saharan” to a better climate.

You don’t need to justify anything to anyone here regarding your purchase. Store had it for sale and you bought it. It’s not like you stole it or berated a store clerk for them (did you!?).

 

No it was just out on the shelf. I thought it was 2017, but I looked at the date and just calmly grabbed it and walked for the register. I legitimately thought that AB decided to have them drop it early (like how black Friday sales are going early this year)

If my buddy is arriving in Chicago on the afternoon of Black Friday, what's the chances he could find some of the Bourbon County variants that late in the day? Will it be all gone most places?

 

Odds = slim to none, at least for any of the decent or better variants. Yes, it will be gone most places. Best bet is to try and find smaller mom and pop type liquor stores, and hope people didn't know they'd have the release.

Bottles, likely not. However, Goose Island Brewpub will release variants every two hours throughout the day, the Taproom will likely have some offerings during the weekend (check twitter feeds for both locations), and I'd check their distributor's link for events throughout the city as the day approaches for taps and releases.

Yeah and some mom and pops will still have variants for $50 a bottle and you have to buy 3 regs in addition to each variant.
