Really? That would be stupid. Unless they have a stipulation for cash only or something to speed up the checkout process, I don't see any reason why you couldn't apply a gift card.

I know how that is. I don't think there's anything wrong with the "all-in" approach, if you actually want that quantity of BCBS; in some ways it's ideal. I personally rarely want a full allotment (especially in a year with 8 total variants, counting regular).

Yeah, I hear you. I think they are good about updating a little before open, though my sample size is pretty small. That's why I mentioned the last checkins from last night. That's the most likely indicator to me. If you see 20 checkins of 312 since the last BCBS variant, not a good sign. In this case, signs are good. I have a work dinner downtown tonight, hoping to get over there around 9:00 for a couple. Fingers crossed there's some of the Double Barrel still pouring.

Well if I am lucky they will say that I cant use the gift card and that will kill 100% of my desire to go.

At last call, the bartender said no more flights (only pours) since only 20 minutes left, and to just come back as he expects it to last the weekend. Highly recommend the maple if you're into that sort of thing/sweet stouts.

I am specifically interested in the maple for that reason. I've been dying to try DB BCBS since it was announced (the timing for it being on tap has never worked out for me, since I missed it by like 10 minutes earlier this year), but maple is a definite second.

I also really liked the brandy. Had it side by side with the maple, and we had a funny moment where couldn’t tell which was which. Sweetness in the brandy!

Templeton was also tasting quite good. Regal drinks differently every time I have it. Shapeshifter!

    I thought the same thing.

Templeton, especially the 2-yr kind, has always been a highlight for me. It was one of my faves every time I had it at FoBaB or a similar event.

Drop barleywine, add in Templeton. If people want a BA barleywine they can go with Rev's.

I'm out because at Prop Day nothing impressed me enough to spend the time and energy to purchase.

Edit: If they had impressed me, I would have shelled out $350 for the allotment and lined-up Thursday eve...

Based on the crazy variants they pulled out for the taproom this weekend I wonder what wacky shit we'll see at FoBAB.

I agree if you're talking about more recent years. If you're talking about the original BCBS Barleywine, then gtfo

I was waiting for someone to say this. If they decided to bring that one back, sure, I'd be willing to hear the argument.

I've always wondered if Goose is held to the same "equal amount per session" thing for their BCBS booth since, at least as far as I know, none of those are actually entered in the competition. (Goose usually has an entry or two but they're out with the other entries like everyone else is).

Since the beers at their booth are not in competition and they pay A LOT of money for that booth. They bring whatever the fuck they want.

Yeah I'm just trying to think of any instances where they didn't actually tap the same kegs at each session and...I'm drawing a blank.

Guessing on prices based on last year - but here is what the Lincoln Park Binny's allotment would look like - total of $244.88, then with tax you're near $270.
    Regular 2 @ $11.99 = $23.98
    BW/Coffee 1 @ $14.99 = $14.99
    Wheatwine 2 @ $14.99 = $29.98
    Prop 2 @ $24.99 = $49.98
    Bramble 2 @ $24.99 = $49.98
    Vanilla 1 @ $24.99 = $24.99
    Orange 1 @ $24.99 = $24.99
    Reserve 1 @ $25.99 = $25.99

*Of course, your bill will go up at LP if you purchase any of the available vintages - probably $50 for VR, $70 for Rare '15
