I was also not a fan of Bramble fresh (at FoBAB or in the bottle), but now it is drinking very nicely.

I wasn't particularly impressed with Cherry Bourbon County the couple of times I've had it, but it also wasn't aged in rye barrels at that time (to the best of my knowledge).

As long as Laffler is running the barrel program I'll give Goose Island the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their barrel aged beers (sours and stouts).

    Cheers!

It is a nice enough beer, but I am not the biggest fan of cherries in my stouts. I am sure it will be a favorite of a lot people.

Well they dumped/abandoned/won't release the wheat whiskey version meaning they at least have standards...so it can't suck. I'd be confident to buy this beer. I think it sounds delicious and I can't wait to annoy stores for a bottle. I did enjoy bramble rye, fresh even.

Y'see, I have the opposite opinion of Bramble, so maybe their standards and mine don't quite mesh...

Still, I've generally been pleasantly surprised with the majority of cherry-ed stouts I've had, so this one still has me optimistic...

Not sure why it's called bourbon county still if they age it in rye whiskey barrels. I'd prefer trying regular bcbs aged with cherries (or even better, raspberries).

I personally loved the Cherry BCBS that was served at Stout Fest, it was one of the highlights for me. It didn't have any of that artificial/medicinal berry flavors that Bramble had when it first came out. If it's close to what I tasted I will be searching this out.

I think they make regular bcbs, then age it additionally in the rye. So technically it's brcbs

I wonder if it's a blend of rye whiskey and bourbon barrels. The bottle doesn't mention bourbon barrels, it says "stout aged in [10-16 year old rye whiskey barrels] with raspberries and blackberries added". But in this video, the brewers mention adding "60 pounds of blackberries and 40 pounds of raspberries per bourbon barrel." Since the fruit addition happened only a couple of months before bottling, I assume they didn't move it into yet another barrel with only a month or two left.

There is no such thing as Rye County Kentucky (or Virginia).

The only time I had Cherry BCS was a couple years ago at the GI tap takeover at Acre. I was NOT a fan. It tasted like they dumped canned cherry pie filling in the keg.

I for one would be jazzed. We had Bourbon County Raspberry (I believe?) at the Great Taste of the Midwest in 2011 & it was one of the highlights of the day. I do like BCS (though not enough to chase it around), but this took it to a whole different level.

Huge fan of cherries in my beer, I will try and obtain at least 3-4 bottles of this.

Had Cherry BCS at Dark Lord Day this year and absolutely loved it. It had a dark fruit type cherry character rather than the bright acidity type that Bramble had, I think that in Rye barrels would be quite something.

Exactly. This shouldn't be compared to Bramble. The cherry should be more of an accent as opposed to a focus like the bramble was.

They could put a Bourbon County label on a turd and most of you would still buy it!
