Based on a facebook thread, BCBS is super common in Columbus Krogers (as of this morning). Limit is typically 2pp, but not always being enforced. Most places got 5-10 cases.

No variant at any Kroger AFAIK.

Delaware Kroger got 15 cases...was left on the floor Weds because he said they had no room in the back...I warned him it would be gone before their tasting event today at noon...he laughed at me...I went back yesterday am and they were down to 3 cases and I didn't see any this morning when I ran over to get a paper

Coffee is super scarce in Columbus. I've only heard of two cases thus far.

There were cases at Market District.

Anyone know of draft events in Columbus today/tonight?

Heinen’s downtown got 60+ cases of regular, 10-12 cases of northwoods, coffee and BW each. Only about 100 people lined up. Got a full allotment, 5 reg, 1 northwoods, 1 coffee. Don’t know what they have left, but rep mentioned that heinen’s in area should be getting a decent amount

I'm not sure what's left now, the variants sold out within about 45 minutes because they were letting people just keep looping around in line. I'm guessing the regular bottles are still there though.

I'm assuming. They have bottles of coffee for an insane markup, too, if that's more your style.

X-posting it since this was an Ohio guy.

Just gonna leave this here as a reminder that barrel aged beer shouldn't be aged, stored or shipped warm.

If you age this stuff you should be prepared for things to turn south, and be ready to accept partial blame.

Personally, I'm not chasing down an ABI beer with a proven track record of infections, bottle bombs and all sorts of other sanitation fuckwittery.

Are you trying to tell me this guy is to blame for aging his beer for probably all of about an hour or two?? Come on man.

And what would be the issue with aging barrel aged beer compared to non-Barrel aged beer? I’ve got several barrel aged beers in my possession pre-2012 that are completely fine and taste great.

Of course I'm not blaming this guy. I'm using it as a warning. You think any of the other bottles would be a good idea to age after a fresh one blew that quickly?

Aging barrel aged beer is not a good idea regardless of your positive anecdotes. It's a roulette.

Is it possible this guy dropped a bottle? At Market District the cashier told me a guy who bought 18 bottles early in the morning dropped his bottles - half broke, half were severely shaken up.

Anyone have any stories about landing their allotments yesterday? Decided to skip Heinens and go to Red Wine and Brew in Mentor. Got there at 8:30. One guy standing out front. All of the sudden the place was slammed with people lined up. Got BCBS, Coffee, Northwoods, and Barleywine. Also landed 1 bottle BCBS at Heinens. I was happy. It was fun to be out hunting with everyone!

So was Cleveland the only place in Ohio to get variants besides coffee?

If so I guess InBev loves Cleveland and Cleveland loves InBev

Going in, told myself I wouldn't go out of my way to hunt this down. Was visiting family in Lakewood, working out at the Y Friday morning, and decided to stop by Simones and Caps n Corks after (~11:30am, within minutes from the Y). Picked up Regular, Barleywine, and Northwoods. Coffee had just sold out but oh well, can't complain.

There were bottles at the Athens Kroger yesterday if anyone's in the area

$10 a pop (I bought 2 of them). I'm not entirely sure how many more they have, but the lady that works the beer section told me that not a lot of people knew they had it

Sorry to bring back such an old thread but this is how I found Brewster's in Twinsburg was doing a Bourbon County event last year.

When I called last year day of the workers there don't know they were hosting it and this year it's the same. Anyone have confirmation if they are having tappings again?

I don’t believe so. The east side grey Wednesday official event will be at City Tap in Pinecrest this year.

Geez. So adding coffee beans to the barley wine makes it that much more expensive than the regular last year? And using wheat instead of regular malt makes the wheat wine that much more expensive than the regular barleywine last year? Crazy.

To piggyback on my own comment, I went back and looked and last year barley wine and coffee were both 12.09. So now they are almost double this year?

I predict that many of these bottles will still be on the shelves for weeks if not months after Black Friday.

I don't think the variants will sit, but we'll see. I'll personally pass at those prices, hope to get a few regular. I think there were a few drops of regular last year after Black Friday.

Not sure why the stores wait till Friday now that I mention it, what's the history there? Was it always a Friday thing and they try to carry that forward with wider distribution? Most places will have it early in the week, why do they have to hold it?

Stores wait until Friday because the AB-InBev rep tells them too. They like Black Friday to be a BCBS "event". People at a few stores
here in Cincinnati told me that their BCBS delivery isn't even happening until Friday this year because the distributor is super uptight about them not selling it early. They don't even know what time they will have bottles for sale on Friday because of this.

Not all stores care though... I've bought it early in KY multiple times over the past few years.

They sold bottles of Reserve to go before they were supposed to and they were pretty public about it, believe they got the banhammer from GI bc of that. Sounds like Heinens and Tremont are the main games atm.

So - I’m back in Ohio after being gone a while. Where in the Mason/cincinnati area can these be had? I think I’ve only seen 1 place with a lot of internet searching. But probably missing a few.

I don’t believe Brewster’s got any bottles last year, they are just a restaurant aren’t they? At least when I went last year, it appeared to be just a restaurant and they made no mentions of bottles. I didn’t even think Ohio got bottles of Reserve last year.

Well don't believe it, but that's what happened.

That keg of Reserve also wasn't supposed to be theirs. I know where it was supposed to be.
