I was talking to one of the guys at Redstone and he he said he heard only 12 cases of vanilla made its way to eastern mass. So that's kinda crazy. I was trying to camp out there there site from home but when I left Redstone at 5 and seen people hanging out in the parking lot I knew I was doomed.

You all know this is what Black Friday is all about. Not everyone gets that massive TV for hundreds of dollars off at Best Buy. This is no different.

There's always a risk of getting shut out at a bottle release. That's why an idiot lined up at 2:30am. Its not inbev or kappy's fault you didn't get any.

Seemed to be plenty left of all, including vanilla at Audubon when we left around closing last night. If anyone wants to try vanilla, brunch/lunch there would be the ticket. Didn't eat there but menu looked tasty.

I was at the Kappy's event too, got there around 5 am. I have absolutely no issue with this being a limited release, however, I too was under the impression that at a minimum I would be leaving this event with a Vanilla and 4 packs of the rest. I was quite surprised to find out we would be limited to one variant. This was made to be a big deal, they had a TV crew or something, the rep was trying to get people excited, etc. It was odd that there was enough donuts and gift bags for hundreds of people, yet they had very little of the actual beer people were lined up for. In the future it's just my opinion that they shouldn't call this the official Boston release and make it into an event unless they get more beer. Distro the slightly larger than average allotment to other stores and tell people it's just a limited release.

And no, I'm not really butthurt. I spent the rest of day driving around and got a everything I wanted and then some. It was somewhat comical to walk into Leary's right after the truck showed up and buy all variants without any line. Yeah, I got up at 3 am for 1 beer but you can't win them all. I would imagine the people there at 2:30 were somewhat bummed, as the people 30 back who had been there sine 6 am and got no Vanilla.

Good luck to anyone out there searching today.

hmm disagree with you on this one. it looks like the official release event in LA had 17 cases of Vanilla, and the rumor was 170 bottles at the official event in NYC. I do think the policy made sense given how much they ended up with but this could have been a last minute decision

That's actually the 2013 Barleywine. They told me so far they've only gotten in the regular.

Can confirm the 2013 is still drinking great, though.

Hrm, maybe something did get messed up. If so shit happens. No mention of this at the event. The Goose guy was always near the front of the line and made it seem as if Kappys got the amount they expected.

yeah I would expect that no matter what really - in ways it's much worse to admit a problem b/c then everyone who waited would feel like they were being ripped off, etc

    This.

You probably need to take a hard look at your life, if you are lining up at 2:30am for a bottle of Vanilla Rye.
