FYI - I know quite a few stores that only got BCBS on Black Friday last year with no word on variants, only to get them in weeks later.

 

The 'moldy' bottles story is odd. I was in Pembroke Center Liquors on Monday and I asked about BCBS. The guys said he had 1 case in back and was sending it back because it was moldy. He went and grabbed it out of the back for me. There was some dirt on the bottles but it wiped right off. Almost seemed like some bottles above it may have broken and then dust stuck to the bottles? I took 2 4 packs off his hands and thanked him.

 

major bummer. apparently ball square is getting some and will post about it sometime this week.

 

For those in Rhode Island, Doherty's Ale House tapping BCBS 2013, BCBS 2014, BCBBW and BCBCS at 6pm. I have not confirmed but word is they also have some 2013 Backyard Rye bottles.

 

I only got 1cs of the original in each of The Vin Bin Locations. I was told its because I dont buy enough Goose Island, even though I bought the same last year and got 5cs of orig and 3cs of BW.

Oh well....

 

Regular dropped in Boston last year on Black Friday - at least the stores I went to. The variants trailed behind by a week or two. This year sounds like a shit show though. I'll hit my regular shops at my own pace this year (I went early last year and had to come back) and let the cards fall as they may. If I score a four pack of regular, coffee, and/or barley wine, I'll be happy. If not, I won't lose sleep over giving ab any money.

 

Spending my black friday in Western Mass and I'm not familiar with the bottle shops around there. Anyone know of anywhere I could pick up some BCBS?

Table and vine released their bottles already and has sold out of some. Not sure if any are still there

 

Has anyone heard anything on limits at kappys?

 

I've heard rumors that they will be handing out tickets in line, and will not get many more bottles of the variants than other liquor stores.

You can do the math, how many of the variants do you think they're realistically getting? Maybe a case of each? Even if they get more than smaller stores (Downtown sold out of Vanilla in 20 minutes) where do you have to be in the line to have a shot at it? First 100, maybe 50?

Variants aside, you can land the Barleywine/Regular at multiple locations in the next few weeks if you've followed this thread.

Based on other Beer Geek releases in MA the last few months, that line will be over 100 deep at 5 or 6 am, and you MIGHT have a shot at getting some variants. Maybe. Unless you have a pressing needs to drink George Howell coffee (I've had three cups today already) and have a Kane's donut, I'd try to find a smaller store and see if you can score some Vanilla/Coffee.

And only the first 200 get free coffee and donuts. Happy Goose hunting.

 

i'll be driving around cambridge/ somerville tomorrow. will report back if i should stumble upon anything! my expectations are pretty low.

Big line already at kappys in Medford. I'm somewhere in the 30-40 range range and I I was here at 6am. This is my first year doing this and will be be extremely disappointed I'd I don't get any coffee or vanilla. But hey its the chase right? Right?!

 

Boston area: I just saw about 10 cases of bcbs being unloaded, but they said they won't sell them until the beer guy gets there around three. Will post location after I get my hands on some.
