I haven't heard any details yet. Last year we only got regular and barleywine...I'm hoping, but not expecting, that we get more this year.

We are getting the bourbon county brand stout, bourbon county brand coffee stout, bourbon county brand Regal Rye stout, and a few select locations are each getting 1 case of the Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout.

I have not talked to anybody who is getting the Bourbon County Vrand Barleywine or the Vanilla Rye, so they may not be making it here.

Good news! Vanilla Rye is '14, however, so that's out of the picture.

That is disappointing. The Vanilla Rye is fantastic. They had it at the migration day tasting they had here a few months ago. I was really hoping I would see it.

I know this is a separate city, but im not seeing anything for it anywhere else, so maybe you all are "in the know" enough to give me some indication of how things might be in memphis?

Midtown tweeted: one bottle per person. No mention of whether you can get one bottle of BCBS and one variant, but either way it's not looking pretty this year.

How did everybody do? These were the biggest crowds I have seen since I have been buying it. Even the small places had lines, which is unusual. I ended up with a ton of the regular. Anyone interested in doing a 2-for1 regular for variant trade, message me.

Just for reference, last year at Red Dog the allotment was a 4 pack of BCBS + 2 BCBBW. This year it was 2 BCBS + 1 variant + one crowler of BCBS. They had 1 rare and ~7 coffees. I was 10th in line and they still had Regal.

It was interesting/frustrating to see all the side deals that had been stuck at the various locations. For example, most places got a case of coffee and a case of regal and a half case of rare, but they were only selling to the general public a portion of what they received. Perfect example was at Maryland Farms Wine. They said all they had was regular in bottles and on tap. Then I notice a guy walk in, give the bearded beer guy a nod and he pulls out a sack from behind the counter with all the variants. So clearly they had them but were holding them back for themselves or their regulars. I guess that's how it works.

Well everyone, hello. I'm the "bearded beer guy" @podge_34 is speaking of. My Name is Boaz, and I'm the beer buyer at Maryland Farms Wine & Spirits. Our allocated items policy is pretty straightforward and quite well known. Just ask, we'll tell you.
If there are limited items allocated to us in astronomically small quantities, those are (usually) given to us based on reward of purchasing from our distributor and they work with a regional representative (most times) to award those items.
We then, in turn, have decided (with the last several years of bourbon craziness) to weed out the cherry pickers, and reward our loyal customers, whether it is wine, beer or liquor. Those of you who keep us employed and allow us to support our families.
So here's the secret to getting your hands on something special. Go support your local store... all year long!
Get to know them... I promise we try very hard to develop a report and a lasting relationship with our customers.
Everyone who received anything, other than the almost 100 bottles and growler fills we handed out (with no questions asked) will personally know our staff and deserves their reward.

I'm all about supporting your local store(s) and I understand stores wanting to take care of their regulars but on some level you should try to keep it fair. Whatever the allotment is (i.e. one regular BCBS and one variant) then that's what you set aside for your regulars. Handing someone a bag of all variants is a bit of overkill if you ask me.

Further more, if you're going to tell people in line you only got BCBS in bottles and on tap, then maybe have your regulars come at a different time to pick up those 'rewards.' Flaunting those variants in people's faces, after they waited in line and you lied to them it pretty shitty IMO... cherry pickers or not, their money is still green.

Unfortunately I was in Nashville visiting family for the holiday, so I couldn't support my local stores here in Atlanta (which, by the way, treat everyone equally in terms of allotment). I didn't come by your store, but I know I'd be pretty damn pissed if I waited in line for "regular only," and then see someone in front of me clean up on all variants. Don't have a problem with the policy, but maybe the enforcement is a bit off. Just my two cents.

It is what it is. If you don't think the local stores elsewhere don't show favoritism to regulars, then you are fooling yourself. And here is another bulletin...they should favor them. Regulars are the ones that keep them in business. I go to a local beer place in Franklin that has in the past surprised me with a hold back. Why? Because I happen to frequent that store alot. I, and the other regulars, are the ones that allow the special beers to be sent to the store because we buy stuff during the non-special release times. We promote the place for them thru social media. When someone on here asks about best bottle shops, I promote the ones that I have a relationship with. I applaud Boaz for doing this. I would much rather have my store do something like this than allow the scavengers who spend all day going around town buying up everything so they can post some obscene pic on facebook later about how much BCBS they snagged. I've never really been to Maryland Farms Wine, but have heard alot about it from folks in our small franklin group and def. plan on visiting now.
