The two of us were group two, went individually through the mystery line four times between 1:30 and 4:00 at different times and never had anything vanilla. It was ‘16 and ‘17 Prop.

Yeah I’m convinced all they had were prop vintages. That matched what mystery bottles there were.

‘14 was on mystery pours prior to 2:00 pm...not sure exact time. What a treat.

Yeah I was lucky to get one of those.

    For anyone who is curious:

    Prop 18
    Vanilla
    Bramble
    Regular
    Reserve
    Midnight orange
    Coffee Barleywine
    Wheat wine

That was my order of preference.

I’ll say this: one of the highlights of today was watching the group of guys at the Prop wall making pleading attempts to trade their ‘16/‘17 bottles to anyone walking out with a ‘14. Once you realized what was going on and could focus on the reactions, it was something that should’ve been recorded.

    Saw someone trade a ‘14 for a ‘16. Wtf?!

Regardless of your preference of Prop vintage, trading 22oz for 16.9 makes little sense.

I think it's about time we had a talk about the birds and the bees, J....

    My order of preference:

    1) Trading today's haul for any Benthic/Benthic variants
    2) Drinking Prop 18 or V18... I feel like they keep dumbing this stuff down and it loses the bourbon and barrel that made it unique....

Damn... maybe my and my partners taste buds are off. He said that the lady told him it was Vanilla Rye, but there might have been some confusion. What do other people think of the mystery pours? I want to have had Vanilla Rye. Lol

Reserve was amazing but underwhelming for the other brews. Coffee barleywine was weird and overall not good, Vanilla tasted artificial.

Found the scuba guy around 1:15 and he was pouring cherry rye. Then got the mystery beer and some said it was coffee but it was clearly prop 16.
Wife and I pulled prop 17 and 16 so kinda broke even.
All in all it as a well run festival, but lots of waiting in line, free samples of the chocolate, pie, wing sauce.

We never found the scuba guy, but we did find the cherry, ‘15 Rare and ‘16 barleywine at the Clybourn location.

Mystery seemed to be 14 Prop, 16 Prop, and 17 Prop towards the end....Vanilla was the highlight for me......Reserve didnt really taste all that different from regular IMO...Midnight Orange was strange. Prop 18 is a chocolate bomb and I love it!!! I pulled a 16 vintage and brother pulled an 17....had a great time, but the lines did get a bit nuts mid way through the event. Also reaally enjoyed Bramble....

So did Vanilla Rye when it was super fresh. It only got better with age.

Vanilla & Reserve were the highlights for me. Both world-class stouts.

Bramble, Midnight Orange & Prop were way too sweet.

Coffee Barleywine was a gross misfire.

    "Regular" tasted great...as usual.

I couldn't muster the chutzpah to order a Wheatwine.

You got lucky then. Scuba guy at 3pm or so had '18 Vanilla. I was so disappointed.

Bang bang pie wss great as a sample, but $38 for a pie was nuts.
Vosges chocolates with midnight orange was terrific, but $40 a tray of 12 was insane.
Co op sauce was delicious, and they were giving trays of chicken wings away for free all day, and the little bottle of sauce was $7.
    Two goat tacos was $11.

    Not bad for $30 entry

I can’t believe you thought Prop was too sweet. I get bitter dark chocolate, and hardly any sweetness.

I also think Coffee Barleywine came together well, but it was my last pour.

I thought regular was one of the worst regulars I’ve ever had. Still good, but just not up to par.
